Due to the difficult logistics and short time frame, Maverick evolved as a contractor self performing in the areas of excavation, concrete, structural steel, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, cabinetry, roofing, siding, insulation, and furniture. Unlike most of our competitors the only thing we subcontract out is the drywall, plumbing and electrical.
As the evolution progressed we started a millwork shop in a 3000 sq ft space on Ferry Lane in St. Ignace, Mi. (circa 1995). After completing projects on the Grand Hotel we branched out to other contractors on Holy Childhood of Jesus Church, Lake Superior State Univ., Northern Michigan Univ., State of Michigan and other commercial and residential projects.
Maverick Construction Inc. has always dabbled in excavation. With the 1998 purchase of the Smith Rd. gravel pit our residential sales increased. The pace was accelerated in 1999 with the onset of the Millennium Wing addition to the Grand Hotel. After it was completed the Excavation Division hit the road completing projects like Montrose Twp.

Maverick Construction removes the original wood stave Columns of the Grand Hotel of Mackinac Island then installs steel pipe columns to support the upper structure. While steel work is being performed the original columns are split in half, rehabilitated, and wrapped around the steel. The original plan was to set up shoring to replace 1 column at a time.
MAVERICK develops the Millwork Division with the onset of the AUDUBON BAR. While growing in Northern Michigan it became increasingly difficult to find quality suppliers that could deliver quality products on time. Undaunted by the situation we started the millwork shop in a 3000 sq. Interior view of the Audubon Wine Bar the casework is 11 feet tall.
Maverick Construction Inc. Value engineers the Garden Suites of Grand Hotel of Mackinac Island, Northern Michigan. The West End of the Grand Hotel was prime for expansion. There was space for 2 additional floors above the existing while also repairing the roof, and realigning the structural load of the 300 level.
Maverick Construction Inc. builder, contractor to Grand Hotel Mackinac Island, Northern Michigan. West End phase 1. It's only natural that after the success of the Garden Suites we continue to the west and around the corner. Implementing the same types of construction. Here are a few pictures to let you see how a well balanced team of design professionals and Maverick can transform a void in space into a historical treasure.
Maverick Construction Inc. builder contractor to Grand Hotel Mackinac Island, Northern Michigan. West End phase 2. Phase 2 of the West End of Grand Hotel posed another set of issues. The Lanai Suites below had been recently remodeled. The exterior wall was not substantial enough to support two more floors above, and as usual the weather is a big factor.

This company responded to our towing service person, who was a stranger to them, when asked if they could assist him in our truck and trailer rescue. They came and saved our bacon that day, and we are extremely appreciative of them. Thank you Maverick Construction!
