This year many of our customers have called to for advice on their boxwoods. It looks like the boxwoods have come back with a brown yellow discoloration on the newest growth tips with stems that are brittle and easily snap. There are two major issues that folks need. This year we've focused on growing our landscape business including laying sod, weekly maintenance and lawn care, planting and landscape design.

Company came highly recommended. Had an appointment for Wednesday between 12 and 1 with Jennifer. 1:30 I called to find out if she was still coming. Was told I'd get a call back. 3:30 I called again received voice mail. Left a message, never heard from anyone. So this Company is not recommended by me.

My husband and I are thrilled with the job these guys have done these last couple of days. Thank you Al, Cano, Fernando and Rigorberto!! We had 2 trees that were cut down and 2 very large trees (Locust and Maple) that needed some large limbs to be cut that were hanging over the house. They also cut off all the dead branches on both of the trees. They were fast, efficient and worked hard. They cleaned up very nicely after they left. Thank you again for coming out so quickly after we approved the quote. Very fair and competitive pricing. We will use them again without a doubt!

Tree removal was great, but apparently when the contract says stump grinding, that means they do not remove the mulched stump grindings. I now have a large mound of grindings where the tree was that I have to hire a landscaper to remove. I even verified via email and got a response from Windy City that "the crew will also be taking the debris and cleaning up after the removal." Apparently, stump grindings are not considered "tree debris??" Make sure you get this clarified in your proposal from them. I had also asked to be listed as "additional insured" on their certificate

Wasted my time. Extremely unprofessional!! I call them almost a week ago and asked if they service my area, they said yes and they would have someone go out and look at the tree and stomp that I wanted removed to give me an estimate on Monday. I called on a Friday. Monday came and the young lady called said she couldn't do make it by Monday and could she reschedule for Tuesday. I told her no problem. It's Wednesday and I hadn't heard from them so I called the office. A few hours later they call me back to say she doesn't want to go in that area. They are a negative -100.

We moved into a new home and decided to do some landscaping in the front of the house on a Saturday, which included removing 2 shrubs. The first was "easy" enough. The second had roots that seemed to go on forever and we simply couldn't get beneath them.
We called no less than 10 different tree removal companies and almost all said they had no same-day availability (we were concerned about leaving the safety of leaving the dug-out hole). Jennifer and Windy City Tree Service were one of only 2 who said they could squeeze us in.

I have used Windy City Tree Service three times. The first time, I had bought a building in Niles that had terrible landscaping. They removed three big trees and a number of little ones. I was amazed at how fast they got them all down, They cleaned up everything. The invoice was way below what I expected to pay.
The second time, we had a bad winter snow and wind storm that destroyed a good size tree in our yard, leaving part of it leaning against my garage. In spite of it being very cold with six inches of snow on the ground, they came out and removed the tree without damaging my garage roof.

7 reasons NOT to use Windy City.
I had them prune a large tree.
1. Reached out for an estimate, they didn't respond, then Al randomly showed up without prior notice (when I had guests over)
After scheduling they rescheduled 2 times. On the date of service showed up 2 hours late without email/text/call.
2. Was rushing to trim, dropping large pieces down without using a rope - one fell and ripped brand new screen on my porch - His reaction was that "it's not a big deal, I can easily patch it" which he didn't do anyway.
After my husband talked to them, they started to lower

Windy City Tree Service did such an awesome job trimming some big old maple trees hanging over the house, removing a lot of old bushes to make way for a new fence and removed a bunch of old tree stumps in the yard. They definitely know their stuff. I highly recommend them to any one looking for any type of tree service.

I just had a large 4 large trees cut down and a few others trimmed. Windy City was very professional and knowledgeable about their services. They also gave us great pricing. They Ended up doing 3 other families in our neighborhood. I highly recommend. Small family owned and the owner is on the crew doing the work himself. You don't get that very often and it was very appreciated.
I will be using them again and referring them business as well!!

This wasn't the first company we called but definitely happy we kept looking after the first one didn't work out! The prices seemed fair considering all the work they put into it. It took two days in total to completely finish with the tree removal but because of how old and HUGE this tree was, it makes sense. The group of men that came were all very friendly- worked quickly and so professionally! They even cut up some tree trunks into smaller pieces so we can keep for some projects and fire pits! The clean up was amazing- no debris was left behind- almost no sign they were there except

Loved the work Windy City did for me at all levels. The price was so reasonable and fair, the crew was very quick, friendly, and very very clean. They cleaned up everything after them and left the place as clean as before cutting the tree. I will definitely hire them again for any tree cutting/trimming or landscaping design work. They were amazing, seriously! You won't regret it.
