Claudia Everest formed North Land Design in 1989 to create rewarding and sustainable landscapes for homes, businesses and public spaces. For nearly 20 years, North Land Design has provided landscape design and related services for hundreds of projects in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, with occasional forays into rural New York and other locales.
North Land Design takes on a range of landscape design challenges, spanning historic colonial residences in Amherst, new construction in Hollis, Victorian classics in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Our projects have also included key public areas such as the award-winning Milford Oval, which has been enjoyed and photographed by residents and visitors alike since 1992.
More recently, we designed and installed the gardens in the Harriet Wilson Park in Milford, New Hampshire. Most projects begin with an initial consultation engagement to explore the opportunities and options that each site uniquely offers. As projects develop, we can work with or subcontract accomplished local professionals for site preparation, hardscaping and plant installation.

Services
Landscape design is in progress for a new park area surrounding a sculpture honoring Harriet Wilson, a pre-Civil War black author from Milford. Also this year, Amherst's beautiful library is being given an outdoor reading garden complete with fountain, terrace and plantings designed by North Land Design, funded and planted by the Amherst Gardeners.
We are fortunate to live in an area that offers many ways to learn and enjoy the wonderful variety of landscapes and plants that thrive here. The New England Wild Flower Society course catalog offers more than 250 courses, symposia, garden tours, botanical field trips, travel programs, family and children's programs, and public events.
Since starting North Land Design in 1989, Claudia has designed a diverse range of projects. She feels strongly about listening to her clients and creating designs to fit their needs. Yet her greatest pleasure is finding the overlooked natural beauties on a client's property that can be shared and appreciated.
Consultation is the first step taken in creating any design. Whether the project is a blank slate offered by the construction of a new house, the rehabilitation of an existing landscape overgrown through time, or simply advice on solving a vexing problem, walking the property and gaining information is essential.
A master plan looks at the entire property so that the individual parts of the design create a cohesive whole rather than a piecemeal collection of plantings. It addresses the circulation or connection from one area to the next. A landscape should be beautiful all four seasons of the year. Future requirements of the owner are addressed.
