Landscape, irrigation and site design for public, private and corporate buildings has long been a cornerstone of MT-LA's consulting work. Parks and open space are the key to creating great communities that have a sense of place. MT-LA has consulted on the Park and Recreation Plans for multiple municipalities in the region.
We have had the privilege of implementing the vision of these through the development of park master plans, design and construction. We have worked closely with premier developers in Eastern Washington and North Idaho to create communities where people truly can live, work and play. As a consultant and planner, MT-LA's involvement at the beginning of the project has created some of the most iconic mixed use developments in the region.
Trails linking key community elements like schools, parks and shopping create the pedestrian backbone of a walkable community. We have extensive trail planning and design experience from local to state level with a wide range of clientele.

Services
MT-LA provided the landscape and hardscape design for the addition to EWU's historic Hargreaves Hall. A critical part of the design was to provide ADA access to the new addition from the main pedestrian corridor. We collaborated with TD&H engineers on the stormwater recycling system that reuses water from the roof for irrigation around the building.
MT-LA provided streetscape planning and design for the River District Community and Neighborhood Entry Drive at Holl Boulevard. The project included coordination with the developer and the City of Liberty Lake. Sidewalk and curb ramp design, median and median planting design, lighting selections and street tree selections were key elements of the project.
River District is a 730 acre master planned community located partially in unincorporated Spokane County and partially in the City of Liberty Lake. This site, north of Interstate 90 at Liberty Lake, has over four miles of Spokane River frontage. While directing planning and community design at Greenstone, Mike was responsible for preparing the River District Specific Area Plan (RDSAP) for approval by the City of Liberty Lake.
MT-LA provided master planning and design services for a new section of the Centennial Trail from Monroe Street to the Sandifur Pedestrian Bridge and Summit Boulevard in Spokane. Mike Terrell was responsible for coordination between the City of Spokane Parks Department, City of Spokane Art's Commission, the Design Review Board and Greenstone Homes and Neighborhoods, to develop the trail plan.
