I began my journey in the residential construction industry at 18. Beginning as an apprentice carpenter under my father, I fell in love with the sight of a well framed home taking shape, and found satisfaction in my contribution to that process. An underlying appreciation for quality and craftsmanship was established early in my career.
As my understanding has grown it includes an awareness of building science as it relates to energy efficiency and a healthy environment that should be a primary feature in any new building. My construction experience centers on residential construction. I have worked on projects ranging from exterior upgrades and improvements, additions, full house remodels, new homes, and a large scale church addition.
In my father's custom cabinet shop I also learned the basics of fine cabinet building and furniture as well as some custom millwork. I was privileged to serve for three months in a voluntary service program. Working together with other volunteers, we provided maintenance and repair services for a non-profit housing coalition, and built wheel chair ramps for low income families.

Benji and Philip lead an excellent crew of hardworking employees. They showed up promptly at 7:30 daily and continued working hard even when temps soared to > 90F. They clearly take pride in their work and doing things the right way. They just completed a beautiful barn and ~2,500’ storage building. Everyone that has seen the buildings has commented on both their beauty and structural integrity. I am so happy to have found out about their company and they will be my go to for future projects.

It’s been an outstanding experience With Benji Schmidt from design to construction initially with building a barn and recently with two run in sheds. Lots of good ideas to stay within budget yet figuring out ways to get the nicer features like European stall doors. He did great work with county building officials ascertaining their concerns such as site being a possible sanctuary for red headed woodpeckers.

River Bluff constructed a 36x40x12 Pole Barn, These guys are fabulous from start to finish it was 9 days, it didn't matter if the weather was good or bad they worked in all conditions! The crew that installed in were outstanding in every way! If you are in the market for a pole barn done right I highly recommend River Bluff Construction.
