My love for hands-on work began by working for my father. He was a residential general contractor. For the most part he built additions to suburban homes. I worked for him in the summers for five years. He passed away in 1995 which brought an end to Kenneth C. Dorn Construction, but marked the beginning of my painting career.
I grew up in Bloomington and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. I went to college at St. John's University in Collegeville, MN. I graduated in 2000 with a B.A. in Art. I later attended the University of Minnesota and completed undergraduate course work for the Masters of Architecture degree.
This education has provided a great background for my painting business. KD Painting has allowed me to pursue my passion of serving people by providing them with quality work. My dad taught me how to work hard, be a good craftsman by caring about the details, and to respect the homeowner and their property.

My Dad was Kenneth Dorn and he's the reason I'm working on people's houses today. He was a general contractor that showed me how to pour your heart and soul into everything you do. I started working on houses with him when I was little and I've been painting ever since he passed away in 1995. I grew up with three sisters whose names all begin with K and even my Mom's middle name is Karen.
Your furniture, floors, and carpets should be protected from start to finish by drop cloths or poly plastic. 2. Watermarks, smoke stains, pen marks, and other unsightly blemishes that could 'bleed through' the new paint should be primed and sealed. 3. Cracks and holes in walls and ceiling should be repaired with spackle or drywall compound, sanded smooth and primed.
Is the contractor properly insured? If the contractor is not properly insured, you face the risk of having to insure a potential accident. When you called the contractor, did you get a company representative? A personal response to your call assures you prompt attention to your needs now and in the future; an answering machine or message service cannot always produce the same results.

I could not be happier with the work that Kris and his team completed at my home. We had the entire interior repainted and some woodwork also and the team moved through the house quickly, quietly and in a very clean and isolated manner. It made it manageable to live through this project :-) thank you so much for the professionalism and I truly believe that Kris and his entire team are all genuine, good people and I was happy to have them in my home!
