My 88 year old Dad who lives alone had his hot water heater blowing water all over the basement but that did not qualify as an after hours emergency. I was also smugly told that just the fact that he was not a pre-existing customer disqualified him from any help as well. No problem, you just guaranteed you will never have out business.
