N. Chasen and Son, Inc. is a third generation, family-owned business. Jeff Chasen, the current president, is the grandson of Nathan Chasen, who founded the business in 1914. Nathan Chasen learned the trade of wall paper hanging as a teenager. Nathan grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and worked as an apprentice earning thirty five cents an hour.

I hired N. Chasen & Son to paint the exterior trim of my house and I'm very disappointed with the quality of the work. When they finished, I found several areas where the old paint was "bubbled up" (about to start peeling) and Chasen's painters simply painted over these areas. I asked them come back to correct these areas before payment, which they attempted to do today. Today's touch-up work was superficial and didn't correct the underlying problems. I've called my project manager and I guess they'll come back and try again; but, my expectations for quality work from this company are very low

Chasen has been around for some time, and it's crazy to me that they were booked months out for repair work, and there's not a single review here.
So let me be the first.
In the last year, my wife and I have replaced our adjoining chimney, our roof, several appliances, and have more work to do. Our roof and chimney were nearly 100 years old (no, I'm not lying) and it was leaking. Another contractor butchered to the point that it needed to be completely replaced immediately. Due to the leaks, we hired Chasen to fix the interior damage.
So we've been through enough contractors

I cannot say enough about how great this experience was. Smooth transaction from the first call to schedule an appointment for the estimate until the last of the job was completed. Painter (Anthony) arrived on time both days and started right in. Color was what we ordered and the paint was a great quality. Anthony was very polite and professional and did an awesome job. I will be calling them again for additonal work.

Great job! Always in contact with me and my projects. Few vendors I can say that about. Quality and neatness. I have them as one of my favorite numbers for fast contact. Jason, Fredy and crew did a phenomenal job on our exterior house painting. Not only did they come in more cost effective than the 5 other quotes we received, they also delivered quality brush painting on our cedar siding. Jason and Fredy were excellent at customer service and fixed anything we saw (no matter how minor it was) until we were completely satisfied with the end result. Speaking of which, I absolutely love the new color! Thank you N. Chasen- we couldn't be more pleased with our decision to choose your company for the job!

Requested a ball park estimate for painting of 2 rooms. After Jason looked over the 2 rooms he quoted us $1,600. 3 days later with no changes in what we wanted the estimate came in at $4,800, 3x the guestimate. Definitly do not feel confident they know what they are doing if they can't even give a good range to the customer. Very poor customer service. Will never use them.

Once work finally began after several cancellations, usually at about fifteen minutes before arrival time, the work that was started seemed well done. On closer inspection, posts were replaced with 1x8s, rotten wood and doors were left behind (that was remedied after two weeks), tools left, work unfinished, nails left uncovered, new trim installed… over rotten wood. One good epoxy repair, one bad, and one left undone. Large brass screws and staples left all over the driveway. A door latch was installed at a bizarre angle, insecurely. Thank you to the teams that came out to fix the baseboards and cabinetry in my rental home. They stained the new baseboards to match the existing ones and it looks fabulous.
