J. Mills Plumbing is a customer focused plumbing and water treatment company that was originally started in 1990. Located in Howell, MI, we employ highly trained people whose goal is to make our company the best service company in Livingston County. Our company specializes in all plumbing and water services.
Problems with first-generation "low flow" toilets were infamous in the early 1990s. Some consumers complained that the toilets clogged too often, needed several flushes to clear the bowl, or caused problems with their home plumbing. Although later generations of water-saving toilets have resolved such issues, misconceptions have persisted and kept many consumers from saving both water and money.
Water usage is measured by consumption units. One consumption unit is the same as 748.5 gallons or 100 cubic feet. A container five feet long by five feet wide and four feet high holds one consumption unit. Consumption may be high for many reasons. If a bill is estimated too low for a length of time, an actual meter reading may result in a large increase.
Even a silent toilet leak (that's one you normally can't hear) will waste from 30 to 500 gallons of water per day! The ones you can hear will waste much, much more. Such wastage can normally be attributed to a faulty water level adjustment or to a leaky flapper. Most people will say their toilet does not leak.
Maintenance is important in preventing clogs and back-ups in your plumbing. Especially in older houses and apartments with old plumbing. By regulating what goes into your plumbing you can prevent a clog before is starts. Cleaning out your drain stopper or strainer of any clinging build-up, like hair, food, sediment and grime, prevents the accumulation which can completely clog a drain.

Emergency call on a Saturday for water leak. Arrived within the time window given. Repair was done promptly.
Lucas was professional, polite and answered all of my questions. He was very careful with cleanup before leaving.

J Mills returned today to update aging plumbing, install new sink and faucet. During that time Luke thought he could smell gas and sure enough he found a leak and repaired that also

Investigated suspected sump pump failure and found the trip lever jammed. I told them to replace the sump pump it being close to 20 years old. Thier work was impeccable, fast and the service man was courteous and informative. Plus these people respect and love The Lord.

Be very careful when calling this company for a problem. Will charge 89.00 fee if used or not. Called for a small gas leak in basement. Last year same leak to fix was quoted at 150.00. Today the price was almost 900.00 to fix same leak for estimated 2 hours of work. Refused to have work done when felt being price gouged due to a gas leak that gas company said not an emergency. Always thought this company was reliable and honest, but now not certain. As a follow-up called Consumers Gas after plumber left to inquire about who could fix. They sent a tech out within 1 hour who fixed leak in about 45

Have used them for a few projects around my house. Overall they have done good work. Docking a star because on my latest project, a complete master bath renovation, there was a “miscommunication” that is being left for me to fix and I was hoping for some better customer service and a better attempt to try to make it right given the cost of the project. However I am trying to not let one bad thing outweigh the multiple good things they have done and am willing to give them another opportunity for my future business.

Friendly, professional, and reasonably priced. We have used J Mills Plumbing a few times now and each call has been a great experience. Even the initial call to set up the appointment is followed up within 30 minutes providing a date and window, sometimes on the same day. Each plumber we've had is very efficient, friendly, and tidy. The gentlemen from J Mills plumbing were absolutely phenomenal! Huge shout out to Brandon who tackled my difficult project with ease! It was a huge project (updating my 30 year old water system, water heater, softener, iron removal, and a surprise replacement of my pressure tank after a rust spot the size of a quarter gave up and started gushing water!) and a small space to tackle it all in. He was polite, kind, upbeat even though he had a VERY long day, left my house so clean you would have never know he was there and still somehow managed to get it all done in 1 day. I can not recommend these
