Topo-phyla (Tow-Poe-Fahy-luh ) is an analysis and process driven landscape design firm serving Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and the Bay Area. With an emphasis on sense of place and site-specific design, Topophyla brings a relevant and unique approach to every project. Born in Tehran, Nahal always had a passion for art and design.
She received her bachelors in Interior Design from Ajman University of Science and Technology, Dubai. Soon after she followed her passion for design by studying Landscape Architecture at the Academy of Art in San Francisco Her studies at AAU have proven very successful with award winning garden designs as well as public realm projects in production now.
Eric Arneson received his bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from the School of landscape architecture at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. From Healdsburg California, Eric studied Fine Art and Botany at Santa Rosa Junior College resulting in his passion for Landscape Design.

Drone technology has become an integral part of our design process from site analysis, base map creation, and 3D modeling. We map and scan our projects to better understand the site, save money and save time! We are FAA Part 107 certified to provide professional drone services including aerial photography and videography.

I love my garden designed by Topophyla! My daughter referred me to them after having her rental house landscaped. Topophyla designed our garden and assisted us with the City to qualify for a lawn removal rebate with a xeriscape for our front yard. We are now happily enjoying our lush low water plants and our mower free garden.
