Carr's Rug Cleaning was founded in 1984 by Bob Carr. Two years earlier after a short career as a speech pathologist he helped form, with other family members, Fiber-Seal of East Tn. It was here that Bob began learning how to properly care for high end textiles. An introduction to Oriental rug cleaning came with a visit to Corrigan Rug Cleaners in Winchester, Va., and this meeting led to joining the Mid-South Professional Cleaners Association.
It was becoming apparent that education and training would be what set Carr's apart from other cleaning companies. Over the years Carr's has had a history of firsts in the Knoxville area; first certified carpet and upholstery cleaning technician, first Master Textile Cleaner, first Certified Rug Specialist in the state of Tennessee.
There are two Certified Rug Specialists currently on staff. Bob has been a sitting council member of the National Institute of Rug Cleaning. He has more recently served on the Board of Directors of ARCS, the Association of Rug Care Specialist.

Oh how time flies. It seems like only yesterday when your new furniture was delivered. Remember how it felt when the plastic was removed and you first sat down and surveyed the room? How about the texture and smell of the new fabric. Now back to the future. The cushions are possibly a little out of shape, maybe a few spots here and there, and the fabric just feels a little oily.
We love rugs. In addition to cleaning them we are engaged in a life long quest to learn all we can. In Iran alone there are over twenty weaving centers and 4000 different types of rugs. At Carr's Rug Cleaning we not only clean rugs, we live rugs. From understanding how they are made from shearing of wool to the finishing washes to how they are soiled allows us to provide a level of cleaning unsurpassed anywhere.

Ben took a rug that I thought was not salvageable and turned it into something that was just as good as new. I cannot recommend them enough, they are not cheap, however the work they do reflects it. I have four more in storage heading that way after the fantastic job they did on my living room rug. If you have nice things, and value quality services, these are the people to trust. We have used Carr’s twice. The first time was at my fathers house where the carpet was installed in 1978! You can imagine what they look like! We weren’t looking for it to appear brand new but we didn’t want it to be filthy or smelly when we put his house on the market. They did a bang up job, were very professional, very friendly, had great prices, and communicated before and after the appointment.
Most recently, we had the living room kitchen and stairs cleaned. Same great service!

I have used Carr’s to clean the oriental rugs in my home and office annually for the past 25 years. I have also had them repair two of my oriental rugs when our cleaning crew damaged them with a rotary vacuum. I have always been very pleased with the quality of their work, their fees, and the time the took to do the work. When they return my rugs they take the time to make sure they are properly placed under the furniture and over the pad beneath them. I highly recommend Carr’s for all carpet care.
