Architectural Science and the Sun begins with the premise that great architecture goes beyond energy performance and the visual-aesthetic to engage all of the senses. Given that the stimuli to which our senses respond are physical phenomena such as light, heat, and sound, the designer must manipulate these parameters through the craft of building form and technology.

I hired MF Architecture for design of a custom home in the Austin area (slightly removed from the urban core). MF was one of the last Architecture firms I interviewed. After meeting Matt Fajkus and David Birt to discuss the project, I was immediately convinced that MF Architecture was the best firm for the project and hired them the next day. I have been very impressed with MF Architecture and am convinced that the final product will be outstanding because of MF Architecture's expertise in the design of custom homes. I hired Matt Fajkus and his team to help me with a very small kitchen remodel project. I paid them $2,000 up front and they provided me with a few sketches which I choose one. I feel like I wasted my money on this firm. Nothing is efficient about this small kitchen. None of their ideas were very creative and I feel they did not take my project seriously since it was a small project. They ran up my bill $600 over the initial retainer without informing me of the potential overage. I would never hire them again. Do not waste your money on this firm.
