Gardens By Ruth
Let's create beautiful and abundant gardens that feed ourselves and our local ecology! Would you like an herb and flower garden buzzing with pollinators? Do you want to support your local wildlife with native plants? How about a food forest, orchard, or vineyard in your backyard? All this is possible I'll help you create it through personalized Design, Consultation, or Implementation.

Ruth has both an artist's eye and a true work ethic. She transformed the no man's land behind our city home into a beautiful miniature garden, using re-purposed logs from our fallen tree to make a raised bed for a vegetable garden. She also incorporated other natural features, including a rock wall, to maximize the beauty of our tricky yard.

Over the years she has worked with us to maintain and enhance our urban space. She is a gifted, creative and hardworking landscape artist! When I was first met Ruth my garden was a mess - over grown, with none of the plantings thriving or making any sense to the look of the garden.

Ruth has 16 years of professional experience in the horticultural realms of organic gardening, garden center management, farming, ecological landscaping, permaculture design, biodynamics, herbalism, and nursery propagation. My name is Ruth Sadie Rose Roudiez, I even have flowers in my name! I grew up on the island of Nantucket, MA and was introduced to gardening by my mother.

Gardens by Ruth is welcoming those with a passion for plants, soil, and growing your garden knowledge. We can offer part-time employment to work with your schedule and commute. You'd be helping build soil and enhancing the visual and overall health of both recently and well-established gardens. If you have experience, enthusiasm, and reside in a commutable distance to our clients in the Boston area, we would love to hear from you.
Euonymous alatus, commonly known as Burning Bush is a shrub that turns bright red with autumn foliage and has small orange berries that persist after the leaves have fallen. Historically these have been planted near to a house, as a foundation planting and kept trimmed to a certain shape and height.
Gardens by Ruth performs work primarily on lands rightfully belonging to the Massachusett and the Pawtucket. We acknowledge the wrongdoings of the past that have taken this land from the native people.

Ruth is great! extremely knowledgeable about all plants, weeds, etc. She has transformed my garden which was in extremely poor shape with something that I am now feeling tranquil in. And she is just getting started with planting. She is a delight to work with as well. Suzanne--Winthrop
