Studio K2 Architecture
Our firm was founded by Kevin Koernig, AIA, with a client focus approach to architecture. That is, we believe that architects should be well rounded in all aspects of the design profession, there can never be enough communication, and our job is to serve our clients and not our egos. We nurture strong professional relationships, strive for innovative, appropriate design solutions, and above all else, provide excellent service to our clients.

Founded in 2009, Studio K2 Architecture now operates its office in the historic LoDo in Denver. We are a collection of licensed architects who collectively pool our strengths together on all of our projects. Studio K2 is licensed in numerous states and service clients all across the country. Studio K2 Architecture was brought together by a common culture and value set.

West of Idaho Springs, just off Interstate 70 is a landmark Bruce Russell said can't be missed. It's the Stanley Mine, and Russell is working on an idea to take the rundown area dating back to the late 1800s, and spend $15 million transforming 40 acres into Colorado's newest adventure park.
Bella Vita Senior Living, an 86 unit high rise senior living apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado, previously housed the City offices of Aurora. SK2 teamed with SB Architects on this project to transform the office building into residences with a contemporary Colorado "Front Range" feel; the landscapes of the front range provided inspiration for the active interior spaces.
Benton Townhomes are in for review with the City of Lakewood. The design of the townhomes had to meet the 40' minimum height requirement by the Zoning Department, but also have a maximum 30' high platform to fire department to reach the roof top deck. The units are narrow, 19'-6wide, with attached garage / entry on the first floor, the main living space and kitchen on the second floor, 2 bedrooms on the third floor, and a roof top deck.
In the beginning of Studio K2, Chris from the Blake Street Tavern asked SK2 to look at a building as a possible new home for his tavern. We walked into the old Polyesters' space at 2301 Blake Street and it was clear that the space had all the potential to be a great neighborhood hang out. The ceiling intrigued us the most about the space.
Colorado Commons is a 112 unit affordable housing project in Denver with an inward community design located at a busy intersection of Denver. The concept was to create a safe environment where the residence could focus on community and not traffic. The unit design takes advantage of the daylight be still providing privacy for the bedrooms.

Shady. I went in for a scheduled meeting with Kevin. Was greeted by a young man. When asked if he was Kevin, he said "Sometimes". I told him my name. He said "You are here to exchange cards." I said yes, and for brief strategy discussion. Are you Kevin? "No". He then said Kevin was in St Louis. I asked if it was him who had set the meeting. He said Kevin did. Was he expecting to meet in St Louis? He said No. I asked his name. He said Niel. I asked him to call Kevin so we could re-schedule. He refused. I asked for Kevin's card so my business coordinator could re-schedule the meeting with him. He
