Mella Kernan Architects is an award-winning firm best known for its work on high-end residential projects. The firm has renovated, restored and re-invented for modern living important design classics from the past. Buildings given new leases on life include traditional New England farmhouses, classic homes from the late 19th Century, and modern residences of the 1950s.
Mella Kernan Architects is just as well-known for new construction: bringing clients' dreams to reality in Connecticut and, more recently, in the West. One of the unique features of Mella Kernan Architects' approach to projects is the focus on teamwork. The team begins with the client, and grows to include designers, engineers, construction professionals and craftspeople.
By drawing on the expertize and experience of many - from local planning departments to landscape architects - the aim of Mella Kernan Architects is that the final outcome exceeds expectations.

Services
Mella Kernan worked for a series of leading New York architectural firms, after graduating with a Bachelors degree in Architecture from University College Dublin in 1985. Firms include Beckhard Richlan and Associates, the former office of Bauhaus architect Marcel Breuer; Hobart Betts Associates; Voorsanger and Mills; Edward I. Mills and Associates; and TAS Design.
No two projects by Mella Kernan Architects are alike. Every client has a different vision, history, family circumstances, and need from a building. Possibilities are particular to every site. The starting point is to analyze what already exists, before making decisions about what could exist. Sometimes this leads to new construction on an empty lot, at other times to careful restoration of the crafts of the past.
