We had a very good experience with Acorn and Roxanne. Very good communication and immediate response to email. Landscaping looks great. I was worried about sod in August, but was assured that following the care instructions would keep everything alive, and that was the case, even in the drought. Everything looks as good as day 1.

We stumbled upon Acorn Design Group through a local neighborhood Facebook page where there were many positive reviews. We decided to give Roxanne a call, and we’re so glad we did. Everything from start to finish exceeded our expectations. Thanks to Roxanne’s insight, we are now enjoying a brand new patio with a beautifully landscaped yard. She is very responsive, and never flinched at answering any of my 10,000 questions. 😉 We highly recommend!

From initial meeting to completion, we are absolutely thrilled with our new landscape! Our goal was to do a major back yard renovation with a new patio area, so we could spend more time outside with family and friends in a very comfortable and enjoyable environment. We had to work around some tricky issues with the existing layout of our back yard, but Roxanne did an amazing job in coming up with a great plan and strategy. Our first experience with Acorn Design Group was in 1999, when we completed the construction of our new home in Hinsdale. We interviewed three companies and Acorn's design was the only design submitted that was detailed and unique. It was obvious that this was a company who spent time on our project. The work was started in October and completed a month later. It involved new landscaping, hardscaping and drainage. My wife and I were impressed with their quality and their attention to detail. As a result of their fine work, two of our neighbors hired them to install new landscaping at their homes

We ended up not choosing acorn design landscaping for our front yard project because quite frankly Roxanne was not pleasant to work with/speak to. As some of the other reviewers noted below, her responses can come off as being rude and she probably should seek to be nicer to potential clients.
Edit to post: Case in point. The fact that you used the words "embarrassed" and "lashing out" is a clear reflection of how poorly you speak to customers. I would highly encourage you to reassess the way you write to customers and respond to feedback.

My husband and I worked with the designer a few weeks back to come up with a plan for our yard. We liked some elements of it but when we asked to change a few things around, she became extremely defensive and basically told us that she's the expert and sounded extremely snooty. Ultimately the homeowners need to love the design and if we aren't happy then it doesn't matter how many years of experience the designer may have.

Beware of this company. I'll keep my story short and factual, but this was a most frustrating experience. I called Acorn in among a small handful of others to help create a design and execute a backyard landscaping transformation, including deck and patio. After one initial visit where we talked primarily about what I had in mind and I paid a $50 fee for a design that was yet to come, I was told I would have a conceptual design within a week. Instead a week later I received an email from Acorn indicating they were booked for the year and could not take on another project. While disappointing

My wife and I are very pleased with our new landscaping, which was designed and installed by the talented team at Acorn Design Group. The project went smoothly from the initial consultation, through design finalization, and execution. We were impressed by the creativeness of their design and how it fit into the existing landscape. The installation started on the promised date, and their hardworking crew completed the job in a timely fashion, leaving the property in excellent condition.
