After 30 years operating as the "Contractor" in Design-Build Development firms Dave Burke decided it was time to switch to the other side and become the Architect for his own Design-Build firm. Since 2001 Burke Design has been providing local businesses with complete turn-key services when they decide to expand or remodel their businesses.
Years ago, the master builder was responsible both as architect and general contractor. Somehow we got away from that so that today the architect and contractor often are not the same person. Other companies, such as Boeing and General Motors, handle both design and construction responsibilities. In my opinion, your architect should be the master builder.
