Salvatore Calabria, founder of Calabria and Sons, began setting the foundation for today's company in 1939. Mr. Calabria, together with his eldest son Joseph, set up a small office and a free standing shop behind the family home on Ogden Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey. With a few tools, one panel truck and lots of hard labor, the two skilled craftsmen gained much success in the residential building arena of Hudson County.
Salvatore's two other sons, Patrick and Dominick, also joined the family business in 1957. They brought in their talents and assisted in the expansion process. Five years later, in 1962, the company was incorporated and took on a brand new identity as Calabria Builders, Inc. Ultimately, the new corporation opened doors to the commercial sector enabling diversification, while taking on much larger and more complex construction projects.
