President and CEO Robert W. Lyon II started King of the Painters Co, in 1975. He graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Marketing, with a Minor in Art. King of the Painters has evolved from a very small company to a company of 70 experienced and knowledgeable employees, due to the background derived from his Business Marketing and Art College Degrees.
King of the Painters is proud to offer a painter apprentice program for our employees. Our painters are trained and refined by our senior professional staff, many of which have over 40 years' experience in the industry. Our painter apprentices are trained with the master techniques of precision painting.
To minimize the inconvenience to you and your office staff, we provide after hours, and weekend crews to complete your painting project. Our mission is to take the "hassle and disruption" out of painting your space. Unlike the residential side of painting, commercial painting has different obstacles and constraints.

All I can say is WOW!!! This company is truly the best of the best. I won't be using any other painters from now on.
We've used this company twice now. In
the first job we originally hired another company before we hired King of the Painters, in an effort to save money. Sadly, all the money on the first paint job went down the drain. Thus costing us more money than if we would have just paid to get it done right the first time. We had to call in the professionals/King of the Painters to repaint and fix everything.
Anyone that has gone through a bad paint job in the past understands

The King of the Painters crew just finished the interior of my 1800 sg ft house Since I hate reading long reviews, I'll keep it short. They said it would take 6 days, it took 5. Their crew starts at 7am and they were waiting out front at 6:30 every day and were great guys. I couldn't find one flaw in their work. All I can say it tat you would be crazy not to use this company!!

Where do I begin, from the moment I met Joey Atkins I knew this was the company I wanted to have do work for my elderly mom. He was kind, polite, and very thorough with there process . We knew king of painters were very busy and we knew there was a wait , however I trusted my gut. The office was always in touch with me when they were going to start, and gave me a approx finish date as well. The crew was ran like a fine oiled machine , they power washed, sanded, caulked , primed and they sprayed the final finish . We were recommended Dunn Edwards exterior paint by Joey and the product was exceptional

I recently got the exterior of my house painted by King of The Painters. The whole process was easy and everyone was very friendly and were great at keeping me informed. Omar and his crew arrived early every morning and did an awesome job! They were detail oriented and made sure I was happy with the final results.
I have had other painting companies work on our homes before and King of the Painters, are by far, the best. I don't think I could ever use a different company going forward.

Quality is not what I would have expected for the price. We had our house freshly stuccoed before the painting was done for all the trim work. Several splatters of dark brown paint got on the white stucco. Areas missed even after the walk through. Facia board wasn't prepped properly with primer first and the wood is already bleeding through the paint. Porch was painted, but not primed and paint is already scuffing off just after 2 month. Reported all of this to the CFO who promised they would make this all right, but 7 weeks later not a word. Bob was a good salesman, crew was nice,

I highly recommend the King of the Painters! I made an appointment for an estimate to paint the exterior trim of our house. Joey promptly arrived and was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We were not completely certain of the color(s) for the house. He assisted us in choosing the perfect colors. We received a written estimate as promised.

We got 3 quotes before moving forward with painting the exterior of our home. King of the Painters' estimate was not the cheapest quote (they were in the middle), but we were impressed with the initial presentation and the products they use. On top of that, they were referred by friends who were happy customers.
Overall, we had a fantastic experience. The crew showed up on time daily, were professional and cleaned up after themselves. The quality of their work was fantastic. I would definitely recommend King of the Painters!

We are the second owners of our home, which was designed and built by an architect, as a retirement home for him and his wife. When we started doing updates, we knew we wanted to stay true to the Mid-Century lines and design. KOP painted the exterior in a beautiful combination of a gray-shade of white, and a rich gray trim, with a standout green front door. When they finished, the wonderful lines of our home came alive in a modern way. Husband and I thought, the late owners would have been impressed.

King of the Painters is a terrific company. They have, on separate occasions, painted both the exterior and interior of our home. Both experiences were exceptionally good. Rates were affordable, the crews were expert, polite, and went out of their way to take care of small details. The company's ethos seems to be to leave no small dissatisfaction with any aspect of their work. Responsive, originally scheduled almost 2 months out. But they called, and were in communication when it rained. The crew came, were very respectful, cleaned up after themselves- impressively. But the repair in one of the concerning areas wasn't taken down to the level needed, and now I need them to come back, got some pushback about them power washing my windowsill- Which I have on the feed from my security camera- that now needs to be painted.
The rest of the work is nice, clean looking.

King of the Painters insisted that our HOA company had the wrong number when the initial call was made. I'm not a private investigator, so there is really no telling what really happened in that communication process. However, within a day of my original Yelp review, they reached out to our HOA company and the owner of the damaged car to make appropriate amend.
The reason I'm changing 1-star to 3-star (but not 5-star) is because they charged like professionals but didn't produce professional work, as you can see in the photos of the falling roof facia. It was dangerous!!

Our experience with King of the Painters was fantastic! My husband met Robert (Bob) for an estimate on our damaged ceiling and touch ups throughout our entry/living room and from the start he was very kind and professional. After a short conversation and a quick, honest estimate, it was clear that he is obviously at the top of his industry and a man knowledgeable of the community. Just completed a large exterior paint project at my home in North Park. We have an older home, with lots of wood that needed significant prep work. The crew was extremely professional, on time, and did a phenomenal job! The whole job took over three weeks due to all of the detail involved in painting the siding, the deck, and all of the trim/windows. The guys were excellent! Multiple neighbors commented to me on how hard they were working, and how impressed they were with the attention to detail. Not the cheapest bid that we obtained, but as they say, “you get what you pay for!” Very pleased

The house looks great. We were content with the old color scheme but when Bob came out for our color consultation he made some recommendations and we went with them; we couldn't be happier. The new color scheme is only subtly different but I feel it really helps the curb appeal. The foreman and workers were very professional and the work performed is exceptional. I tried to show some of the stucco repairs to some friends and they couldn't figure out what I was pointing at. We hired King of the Painters to paint several rooms in our house a few years ago. We were extremely pleased our experience. Bob is great about offering suggestions without being pushy. Everyone--office staff, carpenter, project manager and the paint crew--were polite and professional. They communicate well, do what they say they are going to do, and are really concerned about customer satisfaction. And, the paint crew was fabulous about cleaning up after themselves!
