Before you begin thinking about grading, framing and floor plans, consider the definition of this simple verb: build. One of its primary meanings, as the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary reminds us, is "to form or construct a plan, or system of thought." If you have never built a new home before, the prospect of building one can seem daunting, and full of many unknowns.
Ask each lender and broker for a list of its current mortgage interest rates and whether the rates being quoted are the lowest for that day or week. Ask whether the rate is fixed or adjustable. Keep in mind that when interest rates for adjustable-rate mortgages go up, generally so do the monthly payments.
