Why should I call a locksmith when I am locked out of my car? If your like most people, you have a big investment in your automobile. In years gone by, almost anyone could open a locked car using only one tool. It only took a second or two. Today however, auto makers have really tightened up the security of almost every car on the road.
You have noticed safes for sale at home/hardware centers, and department stores even gun shops. Some of you may have purchased one of these safes. This is a step in the right direction. Although a big problem exists. THE PROBLEM: consumers are often mis-informed/uniformed and believe a safe is secure, even thoughit may not be.
Lets get to the facts. The number one method of break-in is FORCED ENTRY. The number one method of forced entry is KICK-IN attack. The following story explains the importance of good strong, properly installed deadbolts, on all exterior doors. The National Locksmith Testing Lab, recently did a series of comprehensive examinations on deadbolts and door knobs that not only proved informative, but also fun.
What makes a safe a safe? A good safe is much more than a six sided metal box with a lock on it. Good safes will have heavy duty hinges, as well as protection against cutting or defeating them in some manner. This is usually accomplished by a locking bar or pins inside the safe. Some safes may have active bolt work on all sides of the door.
Below we have provided information regarding Safe and Vault ratings: Some of the ratings are for the type of protection the safe provides (Fire and Burglary for example) and there are ratings for the locks themselves. We have divided this information into three sections below. Be sure to visit our Safe Information page for more info.

This is a truly FINE business. They have helped me with a variety of difficult lock issues and always provided first class, very quick and definitely affordable service. Whether it was finding a hard-to-find key, or making keys for locks for which I had lost all my keys, they have been great. Family owned, folksy, but VERY professional and skillful. Full service locksmiths.
They have a new name ("The Key Shop") and location (5589 Commonwealth Ave
Jacksonville, FL 32254) but are well worth the drive.

15 years. That's how long I have been doing business here. Back before they made all cars ding incessantly when the keys were left in the ignition, I had a horrible habit of locking my keys in my car. They came and rescued me on numerous occasions. Once was even in the middle of the night.
I finally had the sense to make a spare key and keep it in my wallet inside my purse. But what did I do? Locked my purse in the car with my keys in the ignition. Yep... that's just kinda how my luck still runs to this day! LOL
I've lost keys to a small lock box and a safe. They came
