The Highsmith Construction story begins in 1952 when Farris Highsmith constructed his first custom home on the grounds of what is now the historic Honey Horn Plantation on the north end of Hilton Head Island. Long before Hilton Head Island was nationally recognized tourist destination - even before there was a bridge connecting the island to mainland.
At Highsmith Construction we've created a team of professionals that feel more like family than co-workers - establishing an environment of mutual respect and accountability that transcends the office space. Together, we've developed a foundation of integrity and dedication that permeates our projects and is extended to each of our clients.
Whether you're an individual in need of a home remodel or a business searching for the right construction partner - Highsmith Construction promises to bring the same high-level of expertise and care to your construction project. Since 1952, Highsmith Construction has been committed to achieving outstanding results for our clients through a consistent and committed team of professionals and craftsman.
In 1952 Farris Highsmith constructed his first custom home on Hilton Head Island - since then our commitment to building the finest quality custom homes has not waivered. Our second-generation, family-owned business is stacked with a team of experts specializing in new home building and remodeling intent on making your vision a reality.
If you're ready to embark on a commercial project, Highsmith Construction is here to help. No matter the scale, we take pride in combining our knowledge and expertise with an eye for creativity and detail to make the most of your vision and your budget. With more than decades of experience, our team will leverage their industry know-how to ensure no space goes untapped and no detail is overlooked.

This company performed the renovation at SummerHouse on HHI. They were constantly leaving trash behind and the end of their work day, frequently leaving loose nails in the stairwells leading to my apartment, my girlfriend's car was backed into by a forklift and the workers were constantly screaming and singing and shouting by our apartment at all hours of the morning amd afternoon.
I also reached out multiple times about workers playing music. Especially early in the morning, right by my bedroom. I was told it was their policy to not allow radios or music to be played. And yet I have had to follow

October 21 is when construction started on my condo. Today is December 16 and they are still working. During this time we've had to deal with strangers entering and leaving our condo several times a week, 7:30 AM construction noise (which is just plain rude), waking up 30 minutes early every morning to cover all my furniture and lay towels on the floor so that my things aren't destroyed by sheet rock dust, coming home to a new mess each day and spending at least and hour placing my furniture back where it belongs and cleaning the house before going to bed and doing it all again the next day.
