From humble beginnings, Fred Schaffner started providing service calls to his local community of Fountain City, WI, with toolbox in hand, at the cusp of World War 2. He quickly built solid roots in the community. Not only did Fred set the precedent for how service should be provided in our area, he instilled this in his Son, Virgil Sr., who ran the business through some of America's greatest years.
Eventually selling to his eldest Son, Virgil Jr. and Wife Deb; carrying on the Schaffner tradition of hard work, honesty, integrity and getting it done right the first time sense of work ethic. From Fred with his hand-held toolbox to now a team of twelve, Virgil and Deb have not only maintained the roots laid in the Buffalo County area, but have continued to grow into neighboring towns and counties.

Our company, a family business, was originally known as Krumholz and Son. In 1945, Fred and Martha Schaffner bought the business, Virgil Sr. and Ruth Schaffner took over ownership in 1958, and in 1993 Virgil Jr. and Deb Schaffner took over ownership. Currently Virgil and Deb's three sons and nine other talented employees are with us.
