Whether you're working from a completely blank slate or looking to incorporate new plants and features around an existing landscape, a professionally produced design drawing is often the first step in realizing your dream garden. While not necessary for smaller projects a professional garden design allows for maximum client input while offering a mutually agreed upon 'end point' especially when installing larger or more complex projects.
Whether we're doing your garden installation from a design or from a pre-agreed concept our experienced installers take pride in delivering detailed and on-time installations within estimated costs. Gardens are living creations and need to be cared for. Every installation we do includes at least one free follow up visit and up to three such visits on larger projects.

When I had a problem with my Irritrol timer on my irrigation system Shane was quick to respond and find a solution that worked for me. I did not feel like he was trying to upsell or push me into anything extra. He ended up even encouraging me to do some of the work to keep the price down. When I was searching for a garden/yard cleaning service, I found this company on line. Well the name was the reason I went with the company. Shane and Rosarie couldn't have been more professional and trustworthy with my yard. The communication and punctuality were very appreciated also. It was a big job and they impressed me within the 2 days that they worked. Or was it 3 days? They even waived the dump fee which was very kind and duly noted. I have no problem highly recommending this local company.

Extremely disappointed. They quoted me a certain price to clean the backyard then claimed they did not have enough time to finish. Additionally, they left the backyard half finished and left bags of trash in the back for me to dump. I had to call another landscaper to finish the job. Very unprofessional.

Shane and Rosarie did a very thorough post-winter cleanup and prune on our garden. Their rates were comparable to other services in the Bay and they were happy to work with us on scheduling given the rainy weather this year, thinking through the options with us, and working within our budget. I would use them again for future projects.

I had Shane and Rosarie replant my vegetable garden. As I noticed, there were problems with a some pavement on the garden path and on the gravel patio. They redid everything for a very good price.

This review is based on a meeting I had with Rosarie and Shane. I ended up choosing another company due to scheduling factors but would have been happy to work with Hoes and Ditches otherwise. Rosarie was prompt in responding to my phone calls, and they showed up at the agreed-upon time. They were great to talk and think with, asking clarifying questions and offering suggestions. Rosarie and Shannon and crew did a fantastic job. Spent good eight hours in weeding and transformed the backyard. We wanted a rock garden with low drought cactus plants. The job was high intensity of

I recently hired these guys really solely based on there name and availability. Rosarie is very prompt with responding and I felt like her quotes seemed very fair to me. I had them do a bunch of work on my front and back yard. Which included a lot of new plantings, trimming of old trees, application of new mulch and the installation of a new drip system. All seemed to go very smoothly. The two of them worked two very solid days in our front yard, which badly needed the help, and we could not be happier!! Thanks guys!

"These guys were amazing. Friendly, professional, great prices, and earth friendly. Our yard had once been a jungle of unruly bamboo, volunteer trees, crab grass and many other uninvited greenery until Rosarie and Shane went to town. Our backyard was awful! It had weeds, unwanted vines like a jasmine that was WAY out of control, shrubs that were just out of control too. I hated going back there, it was totally overwhelming every time I tried to work on it. I gave them a list of native plants that I liked as I wanted to go all drought tolerant. HD are really into what they do. We just needed a total clean-up of our back-yard space in Berkeley that had become overgrown and weedy. They came in and went straight to work, cleaning out old brush and weeding the paths and pruning back the various plants. I came home to a new space in my back yard and from there started asking about additional plants and features I could add to make the space even more homely. Easy to deal with and honest to a fault, Rosarie in particular has an incredible eye for what plants work and what don't. My husband and I recently moved into a house with a large, abandoned garden that seemed to have a lot of potential. Rosarie is awesome! She has been working on my immense jungle to the rear of my house for the past two years on and off. Whenever I thinks it's getting crazy back there I just give her a call and she comes to work her magic. Not only that but she has really helped me develop my garden into something I can now say that I am really proud of.
