Levitt + Moss Architects specializes in custom multi-unit and single family residential design. We believe that learning about people, their hopes and wishes, how they live and function in their daily lives, is the most important thing we can do as designers. As we design and look for solutions, we are drawn to the optimism of modernism, the grounded forms of tradition, to clean lines and flowing spaces.
Sustainability has become the cornerstone of our practice. We seek to identify and incorporate appropriate elements of green building design whether or not a project is seeking certification or not. We have completed LEED certified homes in both Modern and Traditional styles and are in the process of working on more.

Harold Levitt is perhaps best remembered for the homes he designed for Hollywood's elite, including Walter Mirish, Steven Spielberg, and Lew Wasserman. Mr. Levitt started his practice in the early 1950's after working for the famous residential designers Roland Coate and Burton Schutt. Mr. Levitt's work reflects the best modern design philosophies of mid-century Los Angeles.
The Malibu Resdence is unique in both its design and construction. The project was conceived of during a period when no new building permits were being given in the city of Malibu. Despite the scope of work requested by the client, the project needed to be a remodel and the house could not extend above its existing height.
This moderately sized family home mixes traditional Spanish and contemporary design. Contemporary elements such as a rain screen wall system, a canted wall, and a cantilevered bed alcove are used in conjunction with elements of an existing 1935 Spanish style home. The major remodel and addition to a small Santa Monica house has received a Platinum LEED for home rating.
