We are starting round 2 of the Lawn Care Program which uses a complete lawn food with controlled release pellets. This professional fertilzer provides a steady, even feeding that is specially formulated for the turfgrass in this area. We also focus on any broadleaf weeds in the lawn with this application.
If there is a concern with grubs, then application 2b can be applied at this same time. Mid to late May is the perfect time for applying season long insect & grub control products. Last years grubs have risen to the surface. They do not do much feeding at this time as they are ready to pupate and emerge as beetles, but research is showing some control of these grubs now.
More importantly, getting the material down now will allow it to be distributed so that when the beetles lay the new eggs and they hatch, you will get good control. Stopping these new grubs in their tracks is really important. Stop them now and not only will they not be there to feed and damage the lawn during the higher stress time of late summer, they also won't be there for next spring!

We allow the school to use plants to decorate the stage for graduation and often our plants our used when decorating for the Prom. We also donate to the Athletic Booster Club steak fry, recently donating a complete lawn care program for them to auction! We have participated with Habitat on several projects including the Dennison and Midvale homes in Tuscarawas County and the 2014 Apostle's Build in Dellroy!
We are members of several professional associations and local organizations as part of our belief that we need to give back to our community and to our industry. Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association Phil and Dick Gooding both have served as Presidents of the statewide trade association. They continue to be active on committees.
Phil is the voice you hear on the radio with our popular Landscape Planner series. He has been involved with the business his entire life. He graduated from Conotton Valley High School and continued his education at The Ohio State University. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in ornamental horticulture, he joined the firm full-time in 1983.

The Garden Store staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They are willing to take customer requests for plants and are honest about whether a plant is truly hardy for our area. Unlike many garden stores this one is actually open year round with hours by appointment during the winter months. Their Landscape department does Landscape Design & Installation (both plant materials as well as patios & walls), a Lawn Care Program, mowing, maintenance, and dormant pruning.
