They do not attempt to pick your lock open the right way! They will perform a fake attempt by "waking" your lock, which is very unlikely to work with most locks. Then they will say they have to drill a hole to remove the entire lock and replace it. This is how they make more money! They are not honest people.

I needed a duplicate FOB key for my new (used) car that only came with one FOB/key. Dealer was quoting me around $350+ $150 for the key, and $200 for the cutting and the programming and then throw in tax and who knows what else. Way out of my budget. I researched online and got an OEM for around $80 - but then I needed an automotive locksmith. Called King Key and they were able to get me an appt the next day at 5pm, perfect timing after work. 2 guys came out in their King Key truck, very professional and nice. Scammed me. Accidentally dropped my key as I closed the locked door of my car. Didn't know who to call so I looked up the closest locksmith -- when the young man arrived it took him less than 3 minutes to unlock my car door for me. I was informed it would cost $65 and I happily said okay (even with it being ~$20/minute of work).
When I got home?
Turns out they charged me $185.
$185 for showing up, putting a stick through my window, and retrieving my key for me. Not only is this outrageous, its dishonest. The kid lied.

I was walking the streets of San Francisco last night and lost my one and only programmed car key. I waited for AAA for about 2 hours and called it quits and found this guy. He came to my aid immediately after calling. WOW! Within 25 minutes I had a PROGRAMMED car key replacement for such a reasonable price. Never has losing my one and only car key been so stress free.
