Lake Area Painting and Decorating, Inc. is a family-based business that got its start back in 1950. James Keenan Sr. and his father-in-law, Hank Lessard, ran the business together for a few years until Hank decided to investigate other business ideas. Jim enjoyed painting and working with people to make their homes something special.
This cedar sided home, built in 1990, had been painted three times before Lake Area Painting and Decorating was hired, for the first time, to paint the home. The home had been painted very badly, to put it mildly, which is why it had to be painted again and again. Because of the past inadequate prep and paint jobs, we found numerous areas that had been impacted by water damage.

Jim repaired the water stain/discoloration damage on the interior of our wood frame windows. We have 30+ windows in our home and all of them had some form of damage, some worse than others (none had rot). He did a fantastic job of sanding the wood and custom matching stain for each window. He completed this job in 3 days and did a fantastic job of minimizing dust and cleaning up afterwards. He laid down drop cloths throughout our home and in some cases, over furniture when it made sense (e.g. beds). I would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing similar work done!

Jim painted our kitchen cabinets and I give him my highest recommendation. He’s a true professional and his work is top quality. We considered replacing our cabinets and I’m so glad we secured Jim to paint them instead. His process makes the cabinets look brand new. We saved money, kept our solid wood cabinets and spared ourselves from the hassle of tearing out cabinets. He doesn’t cut corners and it shows.

We had Lakes Area Painting and Decorating paint most of the interior of our house and it was a great experience. Jim was so easy to work with. His bid was detailed and accurate. He listened to what was important to me and the job turned out beautifully. He was on time and accommodating to having 4 people and 2 dogs to work around. I would definitely recommend this company.

Hard to find enough superlatives to write about Jim and John and their work in the middle of a pandemic. Courteous, accommodating, communicative, prompt, punctual... the list goes on and on. And their painting skills? Nothing short of artistry. We have extensive gardens and plantings around the house. I don't think I found a single drop of paint on any of them. I am not a fan of hyperbole so to say that they provided exceptional work on every level is simply objective evaluation. Would enthusiastically recommend them to any discerning homeowner.

We have used Lake Area Painting and Decorating for many years for many different types of jobs. It has been so many years I for get when we started. We've lived in the same house for 30 plus years. I can say we didn't switch to Lake Area until after we had the outside painted by a different contractor. Three years later we had to have it redone with a different contractor. That job wasn't very good or durable either. Then, we discovered Lake Area. The work looked so much better and lasted much longer.

We've recently moved into a newly built home and wanted to add a feature wall to the bedroom using wallpaper. We soon found out that wall papering is not such a popular trade these days, but my wife found Lake Area Painting and Decorating and asked them if they could do the work.
So glad they could. We were told that the wall would need to be treated with size to reduce the absorbency of the young wall. It was expected to be done in one day and then papered the next.

Excellent workmanship. Always professional, prompt and respectful of our home. We have used Lake Area Painting for a major house remodeling and expansion. We are repeat customers and with good reason. Beginning with a very thorough, detailed and informative estimate, Jim guided us through the process, discussed options and answered all of our questions.
When they started the job we knew exactly what we were getting with no surprises. Everyone was courteous and very easy to work with. Norah did an excellent job of keeping us apprised of the progress and readily discussed all of the daily details. She is also an outstanding painter. We have several double hung windows with divided lights. Watching her paint was like watching a virtuoso perform a concert
