Meadowlark Design+Build is what happens when a chemist and an accountant who share a mutual interest in primitive living skills and fine woodworking decide to start a company. Meadowlark's founders Kirk Brandon and Doug Selby started their first company, a custom woodworking operation, 25 years ago after leaving their respective careers.
Meadowlark Design+Build designs and builds award-winning home remodeling projects and custom homes for Southeast Michigan homeowners. From kitchens, exteriors, and additions to whole home remodeling and custom homes, we have the expertise needed from start to finish for an exceptional home. Meadowlark hires and trains our own in-house carpenters and cabinet-makers for a higher level of service.
Making excellent homes is our greatest reward, but it's also exciting when others take note. Meadowlark Design+Build has garnered dozens of awards from industry organizations and local communities. Meadowlark designed and remodeled our kitchen in 2016. Overall they did incredible work - from the first design consultation to the final construction walk through.

Meadowlark was the contractor for an addition to my 1929 Burns Park home, adding a second story bathroom with a large walk-in shower, and reorganizing and expanding space for guests, storage, and access. In addition, the first floor screen porch was rebuilt to bear the weight of the second story expansion. The success of the project was due to a number of great attributes of the company.

We did a major renovation with Meadowlark and we were very pleased with both the process and outcome. We thought the design process was outstanding. They really listened to us and that is why we got just what we wanted and needed! We thought that Meadowlark was expensive but we knew the costs up front and then could make a cost benefit decision. I don’t mean to sugarcoat the process. There were problems particularly with getting supplies during the Pandemic but we felt Meadowlark did all they could do to minimize those delays and worked with us to problem solve. We would definitely use them again

This is a perfect example of how a business should be run. I was having an issue for years with HEAT loss in my vaulted ceiling due to little or no insulation. Contacted 3 different roofers in my area with no help except wanting to put a new roof on my house. Started researching on the internet and came across Meadowlark Design + Build. I Watched a video by Doug Selby. I was hesitant at first to make a call with them being 800 miles away. But I gave it a shot and Doug himself called me back. He listened to my problem and questions and explained how his system could help me. I am extremely thankful

Meadowlark was not our cheapest option, but they turned out to be the best and well worth the money. Everything about the process was clearly communicated, and the project came in under budget and ahead of schedule. The process included not only planning and construction, but designing right from the beginning.
Our project was mostly an exterior facelift. All of our windows (except the basement) were replaced, the siding on the front of the house was replaced, and the front porch was rebuilt. The trim around the roof was replaced along with all of the soffits, and some exterior lighting was replaced

Having heard many accolades of the fine work of Meadowlark, my husband and I decided to choose Meadowlark for the redesign and expansion of our deck. We couldn't have been more pleased. You can expect high-level project coordination and execution from Meadowlark Design+Build. You can also expect them to listen to their clients, remember issues and follow up to completion. These behaviors might sound standard for any worthy building contractor, but many clients underestimate the multiple layers of complexity in a large project that can lead to disappointing results if experienced professionals are not running the show. Meadowlark repaired some faulty trim on our house (trim was from a different builder). They were meticulous is going over every place where there was trim. They then used a much better product to replace the bad trim. They also replaced a window and door wall, again paying attention to every detail. We are extremely pleased with the quality of their work.

I would also be happy to provide a copy of the police report investigating Meadowlark for fraud, the State of Michigan LARA report which resulted in them paying a fine, and the DTE report finding that there are multiple hollow external walls in my house and that only one room in my entire house was properly insulated. Have fun trying to fire them for cause and getting sued by them when you do.

We hired Meadowlark to take on our huge master bathroom renovation and we're so happy that we did. In the brochure for the brag annarbor home tour meadowlark db states the home on huron river drive was remodeled in the 1990's but the person who started this original remodel was the late steven josephson. without his dedication to this property the clients that purchased this property in 2015 would not have had the home they remodeled for the 2017 bragAnnArbor home tour. meadowlark did not give credit where credit was due. they didn't even mention him. in other words meadowlark would not have the canvas to design this property if it were not for the late steven josephson.

My husband and I used Meadowlark to do a complete remodel and addition to our home in 2007-2008. We could not be happier with Meadowlark and our home. Even 8 years later there is nothing we'd have done differently and still consider the meadowlark crew our friends.

We were extremely pleased with the remodel done by Meadowlark on our home. We started with an energy audit and a project to improve the energy efficiency of our home. In 2012 Meadowlark performed energy efficiency testing for us and they expertly insulated our attic and sealed our home. When planning our home's 2015 exterior remodel they were the only company we contacted. This remodel included new siding, soffits, gutters and downspouts, renovation of the front porch, addition of insulation to specific walls as well as several small updates to our home's interior. The best builders/remodelers in town! They did a first floor renovation that included a custom kitchen. We love it--they packed as much as possible in the existing footprint and the result is fabulous!! Everyone was very professional and it was a pleasure to see a project come in on time and within the budget! We highly recommend the folks at Meadowlark!!
