If your hardwood floors need sprucing up or a refresh, then hire Tao and his crew! Upon buying a house, we knew we wanted to brighten up the hardwood floors and also replace some carpet in a small basement area. We decided to hire Tao's crew to refinish hardwood floors that had not been refinished for at least two decades. Her recommended resanding and applying 3 layers of water-based stain to give the wood a brand new look. The water-based stain also gave the wood a more natural look, and did not exhibit any odors (especially since we have a young child and pet). We have no regrets hiring

I've worked with Tao and his team several times at two or three different homes I've either moved into, or was renovating. Bar none, he is the best in the biz. He and his team do what they say they're going to do and provide exceptional work. I work with a lot of contractors in my line of work and with today's housing market most of them will give you a quote and then disappear after getting a check. Or even worse, you have to beg them to get you a proposal or any sort of legitimate quote inside of a month! Tao and his team get in and get out super fast and aside from the beautiful floors left

Tao and his team are all absolute professionals. I received my quote fast- had my space measured and even received samples to make sure I was completely happy with what I was getting. The installation went perfectly and the floor looks incredible. They even vacuumed as they went to keep the dust under control! All of the employees of Taozen are stellar and you can't beat the quality and price.

We contacted Taozen initially for the installation of the hardwood when talking through the work he recommended refinishing the existing wood on the first floor as well.
He did both and everything looks great, the refinished wood looks beautiful and the installation of the new floor went great.
He was easy to work with. He tries to handle multiple customers as good as he can, this gave a little challenge in the communication but eventually all went really well and we are happy with the results.
Part of our house is still (old) carpet, when we're adding hardwood there we'll definitely

Despite the house only being 7 years old, the entire downstairs hardwood and main stairway needed to be refinished (prior owner had a dog, didn't take shoes off in house, etc). Additionally, we had Tao put new hardwood on the second floor which was carpeted when we moved in. Finally, we had Tao patch and replace a water damaged area near our back porch.

Last month we were in a time crunch. Movers coming soon and we recently passed papers on a condo learning that master bedroom +walk-in closet had plywood under wall to wall, not hardwood.
We got info/quotes from 2 reputable flooring specialists. Taozen & Goddard. Right away we could see great differences. Tao, the owner, suggested prefinished red oak, Algonquin brand. No fumes! No worries that it would not be thoroughly dry. He brought samples so we could see how it matched both in color & height to meet hallway hardwood. We called Tao for a quote to remove my mother's carpets and lay down hardwood flooring. He arrived with samples which was very helpful. We ended up choosing a prefinished hardwood since she was going to be home during the install. Tao's pricing was reasonable and he was available to answer all questions we had during the process. Tao's team began the process about 2 weeks later and they were friendly, clean, courteous and did a wonderful job! Would definitely recommend.

Taozen walks the walk! I have used him before and using him again was a no brainer. He was on time for our appointment even though I accidentally gave incorrect directions. His estimates are broken down in great detail. Pricing is solid and work is quality but this time I threw a curve ball at him due to a very tight customer deadline. Had a good size project that needed to be done on short notice on specific days and he made it happen. Not only did he make it happen but he exceeded my expectations on some tricky leveling/repair work and really proved himself and his team as top notch. Will use

Tao is the best contractor I had the pleasure of working with. He is helpful, honest and provided high quality work. He replaced my carpet with engineered hardwood flooring. The work he and his guys did was excellent. I didn't have to go shopping for floors, he himself found the floors that matched my existing flooring. I couldn't find it in Lowe's homedepot or lumber liquidator, but Tao found it.
And the best part is the cost. His cost was by faaaar the lowest in comparison to others. And it was simple. One amount for materials and one for labor. Home Depot gave me like 15 line

We hired Tao and his team to replace the hardwood floor for our 650 square feet apartment and they did an excellent job. Our apartment is very old with lots of nooks and crannies, and there are many electrical outlets in the baseboards. Tao's team took the time to demolish the existing floors to the edges of the baseboards and cut the prefinished hardwood pieces into appropriate lengths so that they fit properly. They then covered up all the edges between the baseboards and the floors with moulding, which made the final finish look nice.

So I should have known when I called and Tao was in a meeting. Ok, don't answer the phone. We agreed on a time, and he asked me to text the date and time to him. So now I'm his personal assistant. He showed up 20 minutes late. Ok, I understand that doing one small hallway shouldn't be done because of a lack of consistency. Then he went on to offer me "free advice" because he's a former broker. Felt more like a talking to. On his way out he said something about " coming all this way." What, two towns over?? I took a day off to meet with you. Yes, my time

Tao was great. I had an almost immediate response to my inquiry. After sending a few pictures of the area that I needed repaired, Tao explained it to me that there was an easy fix and I didn't necessarily need to hire a professional. He explained to me what product I needed to get and how to fix the problem. I was very impressed with this as there are probably some companies who would have just come out and charged me an arm and a leg for something that I could have done myself. I appreciate the honesty and the information very much. You can bet I will be using him again if I ever need assistance

I picked to work with Taozen based on the reviews I read and everything lived up to expectations. Taozen did an excellent job refinishing our pine floors in an old condo in Somerville. Tao replied promptly to my inquiry and came by the following day to discuss options. He was professional and gave honest recommendations and fair prices. We chose to refinish the floors and we were not disappointed. We left keys for Tao and his team, evacuated for 5 days, and came back to a clean condo and beautifully refinished floors. His team even came back within hours of me contacting him to smooth out a section

Tao did a great job repairing and refinishing our hardwood floors. They were able to do the job on very short notice (we wanted to move back into our house as soon as possible), and helped us find other supporting contractors who could also work with our tight schedule (movers and painters).
After the work, our insurance adjuster (who to my knowledge had no connection to Tao) visited and commented that he could tell the floor repair was a very high quality job.
Only negative was that Tao's guys had to come back as they did not install flooring under our dishwasher so it no longer fitted

Like many we had severe damage from ice dams the past winter. In short the floor buckled and needed to be pulled in 2 places, sub floor had to be replaced, floor replaces, re-sanded and finished. They did a great job and addressed all questions I had. They were on time and the workers were very nice.
