Joel Chown was wonderful to work with! Our home needed to be updated with all black door hardware from old shiny brass. He was immediate with his communications, came to our home when promised (even slightly early), he compiled all the info for hardware needed & helped me arrange to have someone install it. Hardware order came in a timely manner as well, even during pandemic. Nothing was missing...everything was done correctly & seamlessly. Awesome experience as a consumer!! Thank you Chown Hardware!

I love Chown. Just walking in the door, you are greeted by all the pretty things . They are currently going thru a remodel but the warehouse space currently still has a good amount of samples on the showroom floor. Not all sales people are created equal. If you go, ask for Terri. She's the best! She's fun, knowledgeable and the kind of person that will get the work done.

It is something to look at for years and it needs to be ergonomically correct, functional, easy on the eye and a conversation point at times.
I’ve looked around but was not dressed for the occasion I guess to meet bathtubs, toilets, shower fixtures and other Toto’s.
The sales lady asked me couple of questions and was helpful to note that all items are quite expensive.
It’s not what you say it’s how you say it...

While the name highlights hardware, this is a high end store that has a varied and tasteful selection for your home improvement or remodel projects whether it's creating a master bath, a new kitchen or updating your existing doors and cabinets with some of the most beautiful "hardware" around. What a selection!
Styles range from older traditional homes to the modern and I've done both. When I lived in an Old English Tudor built in 1931, I was able to find hardware for my new bathroom and remodeled kitchen, as well as door handles and locks, that fit with the year and style

I'm not much of a Yelp reviewer, but my experience here was worth noting. I have been building/remodeling two bathrooms over the last few months and during that time have been to just about every plumbing, appliance, lighting and tile place in Portland.
And most of them provide exceptionally lousy service... Ferguson: couldn't get them to return phone calls or emails, and they wouldn't let us buy the stuff, even after we went in and were standing there with a credit card in hand. Ann Sacks: ugh. Beautiful tile, ridiculous service. The list goes on and on...

If you want top of the line, reliable and elegant bathroom and kitchen appliances and hardware, Chown is the place. I worked with Marc Belles who is knowledgeable, double checks everything with suppliers, and is very detail oriented in consulting with the client. He was very courteous with me and just as so with the suppliers he called for info. Great experience.

Crown carries a lot of higher end products so their prices are higher than big box stores. They still beat most online shopping for the same products.
I have used Cohen before and had no problems. However, this time the service left a lot to be desired. Walked around for about 10 minutes and although sales people looked at us, no one acknowledged us. Once we searched out someone we were well taken care of and he helped us get the right options.
The problem was after they got our money. We were told 2 weeks. After 2 1/2 weeks I called and left 3 messages over 3 days and did not get a response to

Chown Hardware exceeded All our expectations, every step of the way. Doug, was OVER THE TOP helpful. We purchased a wall mounted vanity, a French product. After the plumber installed the sink and vanity, something was off. We called Doug to discuss the problem. This was not Doug's job! But he knew the product and was dedicated to customer satisfaction. He dropped by our home, which was near the showroom, and diagnosed the problem. (Plumber error) We are so grateful and couldn't believe his can do attitude. Chown sells beautifully designed quality merchandise. Customer satisfaction is priority.

Chown really went the extra mile for me today. Jason (Chown) helped me solve a problem and save me a ton of money. A screw in the door-lock broke off in the face plate on my Pearl District high-rise unit. And this lock was installed 12 years ago by Chown. So Jason diligently worked through their computer system and found a little bitty screw (for pennies) to fix my door lock as opposed to replacing with a new mechanism, plus the hours and hours of my labor to figure out re-installation. I highly recommend Chown if you need parts and repair in your high-rise, home or condo!

This place is such a mixed bag. Came here once and was completely ignored after wandering around for 15 minutes looking at cabinet hardware. No one offered to help me and the prices felt steep. Came another time and was asked if I needed help but the person they directed me to was busy and distracted and I'm pretty sure forgot about me. The most recent time I came here I had the most helpful gentleman who guided me so simply to various entry door hardware options. He gave me detailed information but also knew when to give me time alone to mull things over. Not pushy but attentive.

Great service and selection. There is a good range of price points although it does cater to a higher end market than big box stores. Getting the right item to fill the right need is important and having a good selection of options and a staff that can help provide direction and insight into current trends, what looks good together and what brands have the traits you are looking for is helpful.
We are changing out all the door hardware in the house among other things and they had the best value in quality of product and service. We have had occasional communication issues with different staff
