Established in 1931. Over 88 years of Rubin's Furniture! That's a very long time. Almost a century ago, my grandfather, Ben Rubin came to Madison, Wisconsin from Russia and opened the very first Rubin's Furniture. In 1969, I bought my father's half of Badger Furniture and added management to my repertoire.

I ordered a rather pricey table from Rubin's and was told 4-6 weeks for delivery. It took over a year for the table to arrive. Every time I called over the course of the year I was given different misinformation. Once they called me to tell me it was in and ready to be delivered only to find out it wasn't and nobody knew who called me to tell me this misinformation. I went a year with 5 young children with no dining room table. I called the owner and manager several times and left messages and they never returned my call. When the table finally arrived a year later I was treated like I don't matter

I'm not sure what Rubin's is like right now, but the few times I've visited over the past 20 years, it was extremely difficult to get anyone's attention to help me. Right after buying a big Victorian house, I was ready to buy a whole set of bedroom and living room furniture. I walked into the downtown store, and no one would even look my way... they couldn't be bothered. I tried a few times, and only once did someone come up to help me. Finally, I gave up and went to Chicago with a truck and bought a bunch of stuff, including Victorian ceiling fixtures. People in all the Chicago stores were extremely

Futon mattress was expensive! The total cost of frame and mattress was less expensive than the mattress I bought from Rubin's for our futon. It cost me $400.00. the whole thing was like $325.00, frame and mattress. We bought the futon 30 yrs. Ago with the mattress. Our children used it for their apt. and house while goin to college. My husband sleeps on it cuz he likes a hard surface to sleep on.

I have been working with Barb at Rubin’s Furniture for several years. I am so very happy with the quality of the furnature and Barb’s followup. I travel 2 hours to shop at Rubin’s and it’s worth the drive. I have dinning, living room, and office furniture from Rubin’s. And I love every piece.

Amazing service. If you are unable to walk the stairs, they do have a freight elevator in the back (requires staff assistance.) A bit pricey, but some of the furniture is of top tier quality, so it's bound to be such. I recommend some of the bed frames with the branch-looking metal head-board. They also have some stone-top scratch-resistant desks for computers/etc. There is a clearance section upstairs (access is inside the store, go around the wall on the left near the entrance and up the stairs.) Bed frames are downstairs.

Rubin's carries a decent selection of nice looking contemporary furniture. Much of it is veneer over MDF and priced appropriately.
The salesman I encountered wouldn't leave me alone. I clearly stated more than once that I was "just browsing" and "doing fine", but everywhere I turned this guy was trying to sell me something. When I actually did purchase a table - not one that he was trying to push on me, and not with the chair upsell - the checkout and pickup process was fine.
I asked for some follow-up information via phone on a different product and received it

Fabulous furniture and customer service. We are new to Madison and have already purchased a beautiful couch and chair from Rubin's. Everyone who comes over compliments them both. The sales team at Rubin's is incredibly helpful when it comes to choosing color, material, size, etc. I will continue to be a loyal customer of this family owned business.

I bought 2 tables and a bed at Rubin's last week. This place has a lot of hard-to-find items, and I really enjoyed shopping here.
For delivery, it is best that you meet the 3rd-party carrier at the store, and then proceed to your residence. Also - it is critical that you give them your cell phone (we gave 2 numbers by mistake, and they never called the cell phone).

While there are a lot of items in the store I would never buy, for instance the ottoman that looks like a ball of rocks, I still really like going here.
The sales people are wonderful and will help you find items from their vendors even if they don't carry it in the store.
So if you're in to funky furniture, with some good modern items thrown in the mix you should give this place a shot.

I recently purchased a gorgeous leather chaise lounge in a rich shade of chocolate-brown at Rubin's and had a great experience.
I had first entertained the idea of purchasing said chair a few months ago and went in to see their selection. Prior to going in, I had found a 10% off coupon in the Reader, so the incentive to purchase from Rubin's rose proportionately.
They had a vast selection of modern contemporary furniture on 2 levels. I had a hard time deciding exactly what to select, but after perusing the inventory, I made up my mind.
The salespeople were very friendly and helpful

I'm a fan of chic, modern furniture, but not of Rubin's. From time to time the window display is interesting, but the bulk of the furniture inside seems silly. I can't imagine most of it in an actual home. The prices seems ok, but I think they go a bit overboard trying to have the newest, funkiest stuff.

I was walking around the area a while back and happened to see this furniture store. I went inside just to check it out, not really expecting to buy anything, but I had been casually looking for a new couch so I thought it wouldn't hurt to just check it out. Definitely a great find!
Their selection is primarily contemporary and they have some very cool furniture pieces here.....and the prices are very good. Comparing to some of the other larger, more well known stores focusing on contemporary/modern furniture in Chicago, this place definitely has some of the best prices I've seen.
