I often get this question at trade shows or in the first few minutes of a sales call. Most everyday drinking wine does not need climate controlled storage. That doesn't mean place it over the stove or refrigerator in a well heated "wine rack." If you are purchasing your wine and drinking that wine in the course of a year, then any "off-the-counter" wine refrigerator or a wine rack in a cool space in your home will be sufficient.
Over the years, I've incorporated humidors into many wine cellar designs. In 2009, while smoking a few cigars with a friend, the concept of Smokin' Betty's was born. The original idea was to go back to my retail clients and build them a climate controlled humidor with top selling hand rolled cigars.

We hired Darren for two different projects and both turned out fantastic. First, he built us a 1200 bottle wine cellar. Second, he finished our basement, including an incredible customer bar and staircase. During both projects, Darren (and his outstanding crew) was always accessible and respectful. Most importantly, the results of both projects were incredible. I would highly recommend Vintage Makers!

I've now lived with my wine cellar for two years. This project came about like so many renovations at home where I start out deciding that we will watch the budget and really pay attention to the builder. Reminds me of the stone wall built this past year that led to a custom pizza oven. So as things go the renovation to our lower family room was to simply be a new ceiling which led to a complete remodeling with mini kitchen, home entertainment area, new floor etc. etc. Came out really nice and is very durable as it has withstood so many parties.
