He is super friendly, very down to earth, good at what he does, and a way better communicator than you will typically find in this industry. Always responsive. Reasonable pricing. Honest about change-orders when needed (so much better than not discussing something which will end up driving the cost up on the front-end).
Great follow-through. I'd 100% work with K5 again and wholeheartedly recommend them. Is it viable to hire a professional landscaper to work on my landscape or can I do the job myself?. Some work can be done by yourself if you have the time, budget and skills. But other projects demand higher training and professionalism; in this case, you will need to hire a landscaper.

Greetings! I had just purchased a home that needed some hardscaping. I found K5 on Yelp and am so pleased I hired them.
They did all the demo of an existing pergola and storage shed, jackhammered the existing eyesore concrete, then poured, stamped and sealed all new cement. They even built our new gazebo. The result is spectacular!
I entertain a lot and everyone asks who did my hardscaping... K5!!!
I will have them back to do the concrete around our pool.

This review isn't about a project since we never even got to that point.
Isaiah came out to my house and I shared with him our general thoughts on what we wanted done with our yard. He took some measurements and told me he'd be in touch.
Well I never heard back from him. I followed up via text, email and phone but never got a response back. No idea what happened (hopefully he's okay!), but from a potential customer experience, this was pretty bad. No sweat off my back though since there are plenty of other contractors in the sea. Just odd that they let a potential customer fall

There have been more cons than pros working with K5 Landscaping. Pros: fair bid, friendly to work with. Cons: lack of attention to detail, damage to personal property (i.e. hose, tree, garden box during demolition), never received check as promised for damaged hose, payment check was cashed before completion of project, lack of follow-up regarding some issues, employees arguing with one another while I was working from home, and significant delays. As you can read from other reviews, there is a lack of follow-through once the project is in process.

K5 has upgraded our deck and outside walkway. The quality of the work is amazing. Isiah and his team certainly go above and beyond to provide exceptional quality, down to the last detail. We live in an older home. so as the progress progressed it became obvious that the scope of what was needed would need to expand. Isiah was so helpful in finding solutions and making suggestions that we never would have considered. He worked on our house with the same care that he would have used on his own house. I'm grateful we went with K5 Landscaping for our backyard remodel. Isaiah was communicative and his team knowledgeable. I had another landscape professional come out for a bid, and it was clear pretty quickly that Isaiah understood my vision for the backyard so much better than the other person. He listened, offered his professional advice... and it came out great! Isaiah was also understanding of our budget for the project. He worked with us to accomplish our priorities, without pressure to over-extend what we wanted to invest in the project.

I own a small condo in the San Diego area and getting pavers has made my outdoor space beautiful and functional. I came across Isaiah during the apex of our COVID-19 crisis who was friendly and approachable. Although Isaiah was super friendly at first when he came out for the quote, I asked him if he could seal the decomposed granite with a stabilizer spray, but he insisted that if it was compacted right, there would be no need. As you can see by the pictures, that is not true.
I then asked him if he could come back and fix it. At least refill and patch in the holes. He emailed back and we set a date and time, but HE NEVER SHOWED UP. Then I emailed him back to see maybe we can reschedule, but he stopped replying to me and that was that. My backyard still looks like this and is getting worse every

I engaged K5 to build a 12' long block retaining wall as an enclosure for a orange tree I wanted to plant. This was a small job and I was told from the git go that they would have to work it in to their schedule around other larger projects. This was fine with me, they could not come as originally scheduled but contacted me to let me know of the re-schedule time and date.
The work was completed by two men in one day which about what I had expected. Workmanship is good, new soil behind the retaining was was properly mixed with native "soil". On the whole a most satisfactory experience

When it came time to landscape my backyard, I reached out to yelp to see who and what was out there. I wanted a low maintenance, drought tolerant space with room to for my kids to play in. K5 was among the 6 contractors who came to scope out the yard and provide me with quotes. NOTE: I did not utilize K5 landscaping services, this is only a review of my interactions with the staff. Isaiah was very friendly and quick to communicate when I requested a quote. We set an appointment time, however no one showed up for the appointment. After 30 minutes, I sent Isaiah a message and he contacted me directly. He said he could be there a different time which unfortunately did not fit in my schedule. I asked if we could set up a new time and have it be firm. I was told that "things come up" sometimes. While Isaiah was very polite and I'm sure K5 services are great

But what really impressed me was that when I had a water leak - after the job was already done- I was able to reach out to Isaiah and he fit me into his schedule at the last minute to come figure out what was going on and fix the problem.

Isaiah was a great communicator and kept me in the loop at all times via text and phone. We even did my quote via FaceTime. He completed a paver job for me with lots of detailed cuts, and he was the best priced with the best service I have found. He is honest and doesn't cut corners! Highly recommend for your next landscaping adventure.
