Originally from New York, I was fortunate enough to have an early exposure to the real estate development and construction industries thru family business. Working on construction sites in the most interesting and fast-paced city in the world opened my eyes to the potential talented designers and buildings offer to others.
The services that an architect typically provides include concept design development, preparation of construction documents, and construction administration. Architects also provide a wide variety of additional services including feasibility studies, architectural programming and project management.
Architectural programming can be defined as the research and decision-making process that helps to identify the scope of work to be designed and performed. Gathering and analyzing data early in the process so the design is based on sound decisions. Efficient use of time by avoiding redesign as requirements emerge during architectural design development.
Bidding & Negotiation involves organizing a bidding process, making a contractor selection, and negotiating a construction contract. While in some cases clients have a contractor in mind there are other situations where clients may have a favored contractor but also wants to consider other contractors and create competitive bidding.
Here at BCA we feel skillfully negotiating construction contracts should go beyond contracts that clients can live with, to contracts that are designed to lean in their favor. A truly successful construction contract gets as close as possible to a win-win position for each party. If this is not the case one of the parties may leave the relationship, or ends the project, without performing up to the standards that are expected.

After living in a house for 35 years I decided it was time to sell and move to a condo. I was very particular about what I wanted. I looked at new construction, but the prices were high, and the spaces were small. Then I found a beautiful 30-year-old condo in Briarcliff, but it needed work. I then looked for an architect online and found BCA. I liked what I saw on the website, spoke to Brian, and then met him at the condo. Brian understood what I was looking for and I liked what he had to say. I looked no further and hired Brian.

The patience of a saint... !! I contacted Brian and team after reading great reviews online. My husband and I were set to purchase a house- but only if we were able to make the renovations we wanted. Brian and his team agreed to meet us at the house and walk room by room while I gave my "wish list". In fact, they came out 3x- which is above and beyond the service anyone else would have provided- to help us prioritize as we tried to finalize what we wanted. Unfortunately after a bad inspection report we all had to walk away. So while I can't attest to their actual construction, I still give them

We recently used BCA's Services during our home reno and couldn't be more pleased. Brian was eager to work, always had good questions, was willing to be onsite both at the home and vendor locations, and was just pleasant to work with. Renovations can be stressful, but with Brian's touch and thought, he made it enjoyable and creative. We couldn't be happier with BCA's work.

Brian did an outstanding job designing a complete make over to the back of our house and deck/yard. He created a design that was not only balanced and beautiful, but enhanced our home to the point that we wondered how it was ever any other way!
