Robert Gray Architect LLC is a full service architectural firm. The Firm (formerly Shank and Gray Architects) has provided building design services in Charlottesville, central Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region for over 35 years. My primary objective has consistently been buildings that are simple, functional, sustainable, and contemporary.
Every project is client driven, individually sited and designed to be enduring, energy efficient, modern and contextually compatible. I have broad experience in a variety of building types including restaurants, light industrial, highly technical office environments and I maintain an ongoing enthusiasm for spirited, high performance residential design at all scales.
Mine is a small firm, offering decades of experience and a very personal approach to the projects. My primary goal is to provide rational and responsible solutions to my clients building needs. Toward that end I have consistently produced direct, understated and deceptively simple buildings which are easy to occupy and maintain.
