I am a licensed and bonded contractor specializing in painting and color consultation. I graduated from UC Davis with a degree in fashion design which set me on this creative path. Since 1994 I have provided color advice and faux finish services to the San Francisco Bay Area. I can plan your project from beginning to end giving you a unique look that reflects your personal style.
With more than 20 years experience, I understand the complexities around choosing colors. As your personal color consultant, I can help you consider all the factors (light, style, architectural details, etc.) before selecting any colors. Money - Together we can avoid the cost of endless sample paints and the cost of re-painting.
Once we have determined the perfect colors, I can complete your project using the best practices in faux painting known today. Life takes its toll on your home's interior so before the faux painting begins it requires prepping to get the best finish. I hire a painter to fill all cracks, dings and repair texture because a smooth, painted surface enhances the faux finish and increases the value of your home.
For over 20 years I have created beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces for my clients using color and texture. As an experienced color consultant and painter, I meet with each homeowner to select the best color palette and finish to suit their taste and style. My mission is to bring your spaces back to life and give you a chance to love them again.
We recently decided we wanted to repaint our interior. The problem is that there are millions and millions of colors to choose from -- and every time we tried a color and painted a swatch on the wall, the color looked different based on what color was nearby and the lighting. I was skeptical about asking for professional help -- of all the things around the house that you might try yourself, choosing colors seemed to be one that you can do.

Janice is a wiz with color. Picking a white for our cabinets to go with our newly installed granite became a daunting job. The color Janice suggested was perfect. Pulled it all together! Completely overdue, but Janice turned our house into a completely new space! When we bought our house, it has dark accent walls, and bright purple/green bedrooms. She suggested amazing colors that matched our vision for "modern farmhouse" and made suggestions on how we could improve how the room would look through easy changes (ie.making our ceilings look even taller by painting the walls and ceiling the same color, adding height to our bedroom by painting crown molding the same as our walls/ceiling) and had a plethora of amazing vendors on speed dial to help in a pinch. Was struggling with finding a trim color, had Janice come out and help me! Omg she nailed it perfect. I'm so in love with the color she picked. It just made my whole project come together. I wasn't going white on the trim, so I really needed her expertise in color. I did an entire house remodeling and the painter messed up the paint for my walls, trims and doors. Janice helped on picking the colors and referring a great painter to me. Both of them saved my house.
Janice is truly amazing and talented. The colors she picked for my house are so nice. I got lots of compliments from people that came to my house and asked about the colors.
In addition, the fireplace accent wall faux finish she did is so calming. I just moved in recently and am really enjoying the colors. Thanks

After 15 yrs from our last home remodel, it was time for an interior change and I was so frustrated with choosing interior colors. I hired an interior decorator to assist and who brought Janice, the colorist, and Janice was amazing! She walked through my house and picked out colors that I didn't even consider. She picked up samples and it became so easy to select the color. Janice also recommended the type of sheen to use which made a difference between the wall and fireplace mantel using the same color. Janice is amazing! I was at the end of an 18 month house remodel and had been searching for weeks for just the right house colors. My project manager/designer was set on a color combination that just didn't feel right. I had spent hours online looking at color combinations and a lot of money on color samples. Janice is the best! So warm and friendly and easy to work with. I desperately needed help picking out paint colors for a kitchen cabinet refresh. I knew the look I wanted but I didn't know where to start. All I told her is that I wanted to brighten up the kitchen...she suggested a couple of possible colors for the outer cabinets and a different set of possibilities for the island to contrast.

Janice is amazing! I knew I wanted certain exterior paint colors but was having a hard time finding the right ones -- every time I brought more samples home, they didn't look like what I was aiming for due to our particular sun exposure, etc. By the time I finally called Janice, I had more than a dozen samples and didn't want to make one more trip to the paint store.

Janice is fabulous! Our place is small and would not be a big job, but she treated us like a big client and made us feel comfortable right away. We had no idea what to do or how to start, let alone pick colors as we have no clue about decorating. Janice of Just Faux is awesome. I hired her to do a color consultation at my new listing. The colors needed were tricky because of the carpet and remodeled kitchen. Janice really took her time to come up with the perfect color combo. She also completely changed the look of the 50+ year old fireplace by painting it white and fauxing it. It was no longer an eyesore. The vibe and flow of the entire house was improved by Janice. The house received 7 offers and sold for way above asking. Janice is so helpful and sweet! We moved into a house with a very Italian style. She helped us select colors for cabinets and walls that worked with our grey/white color scheme that also worked with the warmer existing tiles that we weren't replacing. That was no easy task! She also helped us confirm our choices for countertops and backsplash in the kitchen.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! I work with color everyday and we are pretty good at picking out colors. But picking colors for the whole house is a pretty daunting task and we wanted to make sure it was right. I just could not believe that we were able to pick out colors for our house in an hour. Janice got to our house and had already done her research on our neighborhood. She got to know us a bit and then we set out to pick the colors. Not that Janice needs any more 5 star reviews because she gets so much of her business from referrals but she certainly deserves all the stars!
We had Janice do some faux finish painting in our dining room and half bath which turned out beautiful and more recently she transformed an old table of my parents I'd been hanging on to into a treasured work of art. Such talent!
She is also the nicest person you will ever meet and such a pleasure to work with.
