Thirty years ago the majority of our privacy wood fences were made from 1"x4"spruce pickets with wooden post, fast forward to today and the majority of our fences are constructed of 1"x 6" cedar pickets and heavy gauge, galvanized pipe post. With over 35 years of experience we understand the life expectancy of our products.
We use the materials that are suited for the Abilene area and recommend those that stand the test of time. The best picket currently on the market is the 1"x 6" Cedar dog ear. Although slightly more expensive than the white wood products, cedar has been more consistent in quality and endurance. We do not recommend treated lumber due to the Abilene climate.

John Isom Fence is a family owned business which began as a part-time college job. While attending school at Abilene Christian University and playing football for the Wildcats, John Isom began working with a competent local carpenter building fences. In 1977, after completing a degree in Agri-business, he and his wife Jean purchased full ownership of the company, naming it John Isom Fence.

Our standard fence is a 1"x 6" cedar, dog eared picket fence, built on heavy duty, galvanized pipe post with three white wood runners, set in concrete and attached with aluminum screw shank nails. Adding a concrete curb or treated underpinning extends the life of your fence, protects it from lawn equipment, and provides a barrier to prevent entry or exit from pets or varmints.
