The green architectural design process begins with careful consideration of earth, culture, and community. Over the course of 30 years working with clients locally and across the globe, we have refined an approach to collaborative modern design built on the values of inspiration, sustainability, community, and ecological responsibility.
Through our work, our team of architects based in Boulder, Colorado and Managua, Nicaragua, strive to foster positive human relationships and a closer connection with nature. We celebrate architecture's purpose of moving beyond function to uplift the human spirit. When design harmonizes land, light and climate with how people will live, work and play within the architecture, a sense of wonder emerges and life becomes an artful experience.
Taking into account the social, economic and ecological context, we encourage dynamic, healthy communities through design. We master plan for a balance of shared and private space that invites conviviality. Community involvement in the process ensures that all members are heard and honored.

During the Resource Inventory and Feasibility Study steps, we identify the Client's desires as well as the regulations, budget, and geographical and cultural context that will inform the design. Based on the information we gather, we create a set of guidelines and considerations to address during the design process.
The East Side Art Institute, located on the eastern side of Boulder, will support a vibrant community of artists (both emerging and established), students, and patrons.
Located within easy access from the cities of Louisville, Lafayette, Longmont, and Boulder, the East Side Art Institute will represent a significant expansion of art education options in the region for adults, university students, teenagers, and children, including accommodations and classes for those with special needs.

This North Boulder home was originally a cottage built in 1956. Over the decades, four disparate additions had been made, resulting in a space that felt confusing and disjointed. The homeowners were in search of a solution that would unify the space and introduce functionality. Additionally, the homeowners were committed to preserving their home by pursuing a remodeling process, rather than "scraping" the structure and building something new.
The Gettliffe Architecture Studio was designed to be an open, adaptable workspace with ease of flow between spaces and to receive an abundance of natural light. A see through, rectilinear shelving system made of glass panels, steel posts and 25 foot long engineered wood beams as shelves, serves as a single partition to define various alcoves such as the meeting area, kitchenette, display corner and main work space.

We recently moved into our new home in Boulder, Colorado. Gettliffe Architecture designed and guided us through the entire project, including helping us choose the General Contractor, conceptual design and the ultimate design of our new home, as well as management of the project through to the last paintbrush stroke on the wall. Dominique and his team were very attentive to our goals and to our aspirations. They were great to work with throughout the entire process. We especially appreciated their help during the construction process, working in collaboration with the contractors to turn our vision

Dominique and his team have been tremendously helpful in fulfilling my architectural needs. They have been extremely responsive, communicative, and helpful every step of the way with our complex permitting issues. From communicating with the city to doing the actual work they have excelled in every way. This has been different from the poor experiences I've had in working with every other contractor, and I would recommend them to everyone.

Nathan and the staff at Gettliffe did a wonderful job designing a beautiful addition and remodel on our home. The newly added space is eye-catching and efficient. It flows perfectly with the existing house and works wonderfully with our outdoor space. We would highly recommend the design team at Gettliffe for any remodeling or building projects!
Thank you all for your care and attention to detail throughout our family's remodel journey!

Our interior design firm has worked with Getliffe Architecture for a number of years and it has truly been a pleasure. (Owner) Dominique fosters a collaborative environment within his team so that every project’s core elements are given a variety of ideas and perspectives from all involved. The result is beautiful architectural design that sustains the vision of their clients. And with Getliffe’s design-build background, pleasing aesthetics never compromise the budget. I would gladly recommend their services to all our clients.

I could write positive things all day about the Gettliffe team. Working with Dominique, Alejandra, and the entire crew was a pleasure. They patiently walked us through the tradeoffs between project features and our limited budget, helping us understand the implications of options we considered. After understanding our priorities they added their design artistry to transform our home into a place we appreciate every day.
Their emphasis on a sound structure and unseen design was evident throughout as well, identifying framing issues with the original structure and working in remediation with minimal

"I want to take this opportunity to commend and recommend Gettliffe Architecture.
My wife Leslie and I recently received a certificate of occupancy of our home 3 miles outside of Salida, Colorado (on December 20, 2013). We purchased the property in 2006 and involved Gettliffe Architecture, frankly, even before the sale was concluded. We were interested in whether or not the site would receive good sun so this critical and renewable energy source could be utilized. They answered that question and we started the project. Many other questions would be asked and resolved along the way.
