Johnston Tombigbee Furniture Manufacturing Company was founded in 1932 by Mr. Russell B. Johnston to manufacture decorative bedroom chests and armoires. He later added a full line of all-wood bedroom to complement his competitively priced products for which there was an ever-growing demand. In addition to the manufacturing business, he also operated a highly successful retail furniture store and several thousand acres of timber land.
