Yolo County Arborist was established by Sean Cookman in 2001 and provides arboricultural services to residential, commercial and municipalities in Yolo County and surrounding communities. All pruning is done using guidelines set forth by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Services
Arborist Services: We provide arborist reports, tree inspections, and consultations; plant analysis and diagnostic; insect and disease identification and management; and tree inventories and management plans. Cabling and Bracing: Cables and brace rods are supplemental structural supports intended to reduce the risk of failure of weak and damaged branches and stems.

Showed up for a quote and scheduled an appointment to trim some trees. Then failed to show up to trim the trees. Rescheduled for when we were away, which was fine, and called to offer us some free cypress mulch without going into greater detail. We assumed he would be offering us a reasonable amount of mulch and said "sure!" without further questioning. Returned home to find a 6 ft tall pile of cypress shreddings on our front yard that easily would have filled dozens and dozens of bags. Used some and tried to give the rest away with limited results. Impressive service and competitive pricing. I was very pleased with their work to remove four diseased flowering pear trees with dangerous limbs. Thank you, Sean and team. They were especially good at managing large, high-up limbs that overhung neighboring yards using the right equipment and smart techniques.

Previously had them thin out trees and remove one. Decent work and fair price. Contacted them again, received estimate, and was told they would get back to me soon but had a few projects. Almost two months later called and was told would be out the next week. The day they were to arrive was the big storm. I called and left a message to confirm they were scheduled to come out that day, for I had one downed tree. Never heard back from them and it's been a week. I got most of the tree out and ready for pick up. I'm still trying to deal with the stump.

I needed to have a branch cut off as it crushed the rain gutter. Sean and his crew were on time and managed to cut the branch quickly. Since they were there, they also cut down a dead tree in front of my house at a discount. Then they chipped and spread the chips in the front yard. His price was reasonable and I am totally happy with the job. I had contacted 4 different companies during a very busy time; 1 promised to give me an estimate then promptly ignored me and the other 2 failed to respond to my request. I also had a quote from some who cut trees on the side and promised a good deal

Needed several tall birches removed in my backyard. Access was a little cramped and they needed to climb the trees to remove them. The crew was very professional, came on-time, finished on-time, did the job without materially damaging anything, and cleaned up pretty thoroughly, including removing all the debris. And a fair price too. Fully licensed and insured. They are quite busy so some times can be difficult to get ahold of. Recommended.

Sean was extremely professional when assessing the work and getting us a quote. His crews were heavily scheduled, a good sign, so we were prepared to wait a month or two. However, as soon as Sean saw a break in his schedule, he contacted us, and they got the job done in a few hours. They did great work, including all the clean up. Highly recommended.

I did my research before hiring Sean and his crew. I had four different companies come provide estimates and went with Yolo County Arborist. Sean is no nonsense and tell you like it is when it comes to cutting down trees. One thing I really liked is that since he was already coming to cut down a huge Walnut tree he gave me a discounted price in regards to cutting down a large fig tree and cherry tree I also needed cutting down. His crew arrive the day before to set up and the day off was in and out by mid-day. His crew also very nicely moved my daughter's play structure out of the way and

Sean Cookman, the Yolo County Arborist. He's no-nonsense, courteous, friendly, and his crew is top notch. There's many ways to skin a tree, but Sean knows how to optimize the customer experience. After interviewing 3 recommended arborists on our local blog, I had bids from only bonded and insured contractors. After being yanked around by another who promised a lot, and delivered nothing, I called Sean. Even in the busy season, with a rash of tree business, Sean was here within a week, and had a large tree gone and cleaned up in 3 hours. Knowledgeable, friendly, and the man knows his stuff

Sean listened to what our thoughts were and brought his talent to prune our trees. I've watched these trees grow for 25 years and have done many prunings myself when they were young. Now they are growing into each other, our house and hover over our yard. Sean really figured out how to balance and shape all he worked on. This was way beyond my expectation and made the other company I hired a few years ago look like beginners.

I had no idea how great the trees in our yard could look! People driving by over the last few weeks have stopped to comment on their beautiful shapes.
