By 2006, Dave had become frustrated working in an industry that increasingly chose to sacrifice craftsmanship for cost and full-time supervision for paperwork. He firmly believed you should provide a good job at a reasonable cost and could do so if the job was managed well. The answer was to go out on his own, so I returned from my position with Darden Industries in the Mid-Atlantic to help him establish Grafflin Construction.
In a difficult Southern California construction market Dave's years of experience and commitment to turning out quality products, paired with my energy, education in sustainability and view to the future of construction, has allowed us to survive and even thrive. The vocal support from long-term customers was a continuous reminder of our purpose.
Growth over the first ten years has been steady, including the purchase and rework of RTiS in 2011, a commercial systems furniture company. We began as a father and daughter team and were pleased to be joined by my brother, Ryan Grafflin, in 2016.

Since our incorporation, Grafflin Construction has specialized in banking establishments. This gives us the unique experience you need for large millwork installations/tellerlines, ATMs, security integration-bandit barriers, safety cages, surveillance-and vaults/safes, needs not commonly encountered in standard retail TI construction.
We at Grafflin Construction, Inc. provide project owners and landlords with general contracting services throughout Southern California. Our competencies range from small installations, remodels and ADA updates to multifloor build-outs of commercial space. You will find us to be an excellent candidate for projects in the $50,000-$1,500,000+ construction budget range.
Our recurring success in LEED Certification has been achieved through the education of our vendors, buy-in of our project staff and adherence to a more sustainable set of standards across all projects. We were honored to build the first certified LEED project in the Wells Fargo Retail portfolio and continue to help them develop a succesful volume build certification with over 27 LEED projects today.
Grafflin Construction has built the prototypes of 3 new retail bank branding formats over the past 7 years. Each time is a unique challenge to realize the intent of the design and determine feasability of construction for a nationwide market. Our most current re-branding projects blend traditional format retail spaces with technology in the form of automated user interfaces and computer driven media and advertising walls.
Although we initially specialized in retail banking we have been steadily developing our portfolio with commercial tenant improvement work in the $1 to $3.5 million range with great success. Landlords and developers have responded favorably to our full time supervision, vetted subcontractors and easily accessible administration.
