Three Hammer was hired to build our first starter home in a newly developed subdivision. They pulled out of the project midway through and the neighborhood has yet to be completed. There are many empty lots due to the fact that Three Hammer was extremely deceptive in their intentions and operating principles. The materials on these home are very cheap and the foundation wasn't sturdy. I know it was a starter home, but my gosh... It was made with paper thin walls, no insulation, worthless fixtures, etc.
There are much better options for a great price. Fair warning!

I currently live in a 3hammer house. From what Ive been told the custom homes are great. However the subdivision houses are terrible. cheap material. very little insulation. The worst thing Ive seen yet is running ductwork 25feet across basement up through a wall into the attic and 30 feet back the same direction. The 30 feet of pipe in the attic has NO INSULATION. If the previous owners fixed all the common issues their buildings have it should be okay. GET AN INSPECTION DONE. A good one.

Reading these negative reviews really boggles our mind. We have been building with Three Hammer since 1990. We just built our 5th home ( Oct 2015) with them and have always been 100% satisfied! We built this home as we say our condo size home with quality construction we don't believe any builder in town can come close to! We have built their models all over the price range from two stories, tri level, and ranches. We make many many changes to the floor plans as well as who we want to use for flooring, appliances, lighting etc with no problems to our contract or their quality of work. We have sold

Being the first time building a home, I wasn't sure what to expect and had plenty of questions. From the first email to Mic Steede asking about floor plans and prices, to meeting with Merle Hammack at our empty lot to discuss our plans, to meeting with Dave Schusler to discuss modifications to the home plan we choose, to picking out colors and styles with Barb Brandon, to receiving help from Deen Cooper with closing and at the end having Dave Schulser and Brent Hammack make a few minor touch-ups and adjustments........Everything went great throughout the entire building process.

BEWARE!
Mic Steede works for Three Hammer Construction so his review is not legit.
Three Hammer must do a better job of building houses for their employees than they do for the paying customer. Lousy quality and poor customer service. They are not to be trusted. Merle wines and dines you and then takes short cuts with hiring mediocre subcontractors to do the work. They refuse to "make things right" even though he'll tell you he will make things right. More interested in collecting your money then doing things right and correcting mistakes.

I have built 2 home with Three Hammer. Both of them turned out as I expected. Our first home was a starter home and this was a very simple home to build. Our second home was a custom 2-story, that was a little more challenging. During the building process thing arise but nothing that wasn't handled on a timely like manner. We are very happy with choosing Three Hammer as our builder. If you are looking for a starter home or a complete custom home in northern Illinois, I would recommend Three Hammer.

I use to work for Spillare concrete who 3 hammer contracted to do all of their cement work. horrible, in better words is the quality of these people use to build these homes. I've never worked for a company where the foreman didn't care if you were drunk or drinking well building a foundation. that right there tells you the quality these houses are built with. I've heard from 2 separate home owners that own 3 hammer houses that their homes are horrible. I make sure that I tell anybody I know that is new to the area never buy a 3 hammer house. These people should be out of business. take your hard
