Patrick started this company with a belief that trees can be more important than line items on a budget. Starting with the first ancient tree he climbed as a teenager by his mom's house on St. John's Lane (which still proudly bisects the two ends of that street to this day), he grew his business one tree at a time.
This not only includes tree health but structure as well. We can investigate and report tree structure concerns so you can make educated tree management decisions. Our experts can set up health care programs for pre and post construction activities. These services may include; Vegetation and Soil Protection Zone preparation/restoration or minimally invasive utility trenching using the Super Sonic Air Knife.
Heartwood is currently adding to our family of 'Mankeys'. No climbing experience needed to get in the door if you have the right attitude and a love for trees and all they provide. A willingness to work hard outdoors as part of a team is a must. Heartwood is committed to caring for and preserving Charlotte's shrinking tree canopy through client education, honest advice, and industry leading work practices.
In 2004, Heartwood Tree Service became the 1st tree company in North Carolina to be accredited by the 'Tree Care Industry Association.' We are a past winner of the Tree Care Industry Association Safety Award! The accreditation process ensures that there are documented safety training programs and CPR/First Aid training for all employees.
Plant Health Care (PHC) is a holistic approach to caring for your trees and shrubs with the goal of improving and maintaining the overall health and aesthetics of your landscape. A true PHC program or what we call a Tree Love and Care (TLC) program uses different strategies including cultural, biological, and traditional insect and disease control methods.

To start with, I was impressed with the knowledge of the salesman, an arborist, who came to look over my project. I had a completed proposal in less than an hour.
The staff of 5 (total) tree experts who came to my home were always punctual. They impressed me with the professionalism and safety they brought to their work as they climbed trees seemingly defying gravity. They cleaned up the work area perfectly before leaving. I highly recommend Heartwood for all your tree care needs. They were the best!

Except service in the LKN area. Courteous, crew, kind, did great job. Good communication, regarding dates of service. Even came out in the rain, and stayed ro continue.(no thunder or lightning)😉 Cleaned up when done and left us mulch from our own trees behind. Even came.out for an emergency tree cut down, on top of our other scheduled service, to prevent a tree,/powering problem!!!!
Mike gave us a competitive quote, is knowledgeable about all tree types, amd gave good advice on what we should do and what was needed for our property. We had a large amount of trees, and some suspected problem

Heartwood came over for some pruning this morning. They were on time, professional, and cleaned up as they worked. They have a guy with a broom and dust bin (photo attached), leaf blowers, and they raked all the twigs before they left. I'm very impressed.

Everything about my experience with Heartwood Tree Service was positive. My initial call was handled with patience and professionalism - I had SO many questions and they were all answered expertly.
The initial inspection of my trees was stress-free and I never felt rushed. I had more than enough information to make a confident decision about how to proceed.

Mr. Potter and his crew arrived on time, worked efficiently and ensured that all debris was cleared and/or removed upon their departure each day. We had a large project...3 days... and each day the team, including Mr. Potter, arrived by 8am and worked through the day. Last year they did work on my neighbor's yard and she recommended them to us. I am beyond happy with the work done and know that my trees are now healthier and the clearance of dead limbs has made an amazing transformation of my backyard. I highly recommend this extremely professional contractor and his team. You will not be disappointed
