Since I started my business, Susan A. Vallon Ltd., in 1976, I have designed old and new homes as well as office, lobbies and restaurants, and I always try to create spaces that are functional, beautiful, well lit and comfortable. For many of my clients I have done two, three or four residences and offices, as well as ongoing improvements using furnishings and lighting that I bring into play.
I treasure the relationships I have built over the years and the trust that my clients have placed in me. I believe these enduring relationships are due to the fact that I remain accessible to my clients, introduce them to the talented group of craftsmen with whom I work, bring them into the design process and strive to make the end result of a project about them and not about me.

Space planning, color and material selection and furniture selection with an emphasis on comfort and classic style. Long-term planning and budgeting of projects for clients who may prefer to do a design or construction job in stages. Construction supervision of licensed contractors and subcontractors.
We have worked with Susan on five different projects over a 25+ year period, from a rented house in DC to a down-to-the-studs historic renovation in California. The result in each case has been highly attuned to our needs and taste, which she has influenced over our time together. Susan's collaborative work on overall plan, color, and pattern is a particular strength.
