I work in construction and have to have keys made all of the time. Most places that I go I have to get double the number of keys made because half don't work. However at Costa Mesa Lock and Key I have never had a key not work. They have always had the blanks that I need. There is one guy who's a little grumpy but he is nice underneath.

Dropped off a brand new, out of the box Lockly digital key and pad, to be keyed to a lower handle with a very nice man, Thomas. When I picked it up it had a chip in the side, Dennis wouldn’t address or help me in any way. Said I had to come back and talk to Thomas. Its a $200 lock, I’m extremely disappointed how Dennis handed this.

On Tuesday February 2nd I stopped at Dannis shop. He is the most arrogant person to do business with and is very unpolite. His approch right after I walked into his shop was if he need to wear a mask too since I was wearing a másk. My replayed was it was up to him that is not my business if he doesn't comply with the law. I asked him to pre cut 25 kwitset keys and 5 schlage key and must be diferent from one to another and I showed him the key tape need it. When I went to pick up the keys I asked him that if each individual key is diferent from one to other since I notice the cut look the same

Came in a little before closing time and the gentlemen up front were beyond professional, kind, and helpful. I had an issue with finding the "right" key for my 1981 motorcycle; along with our house mail key. The automated kiosks couldn't do these two keys, so I visited a few shops... This was the only store that allowed the keys to be copied. Definitely will come back!

I had managed to break the only key to my 88 year old front door lock. I had purchased blanks to the unique key previously but hadn't gotten around to getting copies made since I would have to take them to an actual locksmith that hand grinds keys. Somehow, Dennis was able to make duplicates of my key using the broken pieces and to my delight they worked! He saved me me from the major hassle and expense of trying to replace the vintage lock set.
Dennis is kind of a no-nonsense guy. I can see how some of the people in the negative reviews may have found this abrasive, but I didn't. He

I went here based on a recommendation from a friend ( only to find out later that he meant another place). I have had such an amazing week with great customer service and then I came here. Dennis ( the owner) was so unbelievably rude, brash, condescending, and downright acted like he didn't want my business. When confronted on this he said "that's just how I am... I am 70 years old and I'm not changing"!! Seriously!!!! In fact he was so spastic that he even gave me the wrong lock at first. When I left and had to go to another locksmith I mentioned I just had a bad experience

This guy, I believe his name is Dennis is the rudest locksmith I have ever met. I came in today and he was extremely rude again. He talked over me, interrupt me on numerous occasions and even started yelling at me. Also you have to spend over five dollars to use your debit card. (No sign posted... he told me it's my responsibility to ask!) I will never go back. I find his behavior shocking and appalling.

Went back to Ace Hardware for the third time today because the key I was getting duplicated still wouldn't work. Stopped by here to get another key made just in case.
I was in an out in what felt like 30 seconds, with quick but friendly customer service, and a key that actually works (not surprisingly, the only other one didn't). Couldn't have been easier. The price was about twice the cost of Ace, I think $3.77 vs. $1.99, but in my opinion the difference is negligible and well worth it.
Oh, and the place is easy to find too, just icing on the cake.
