One of my first jobs was a helper for the carpenters remodeling a restaurant where they and myself found that I was good with my hands. I spent the next 7 years working for a local fire insurance contractor that taught me how to perform various other trades. My boss was a journeyman at all trades and took me under his wing, he was definitely my mentor.
I got my Contractors license in 1980 and spent 7 years doing structural repairs for Allstate and Farmers insurance companies. After that I spent the next 35 years working with local architects on residential and commercial projects. I started in this profession working under a contractor that had the ability to perform all aspects of the building trades.
In 2002 my wife and I decided to move to Redding to raise our family in a beautiful area. In 2003 I got my contractors license and started North Valley Builders. Our experience in the construction trades affords us the opportunity to help people achieve their goals in several areas. Chris & Dave have over 53 years combined experience in the construction arena.

North Valley Builders were the successful bidders on a Public Works Project for Trinity County. This was a complex project involving the new construction of a three bedroom 1800 square foot home that was fully ADA compliant, and the remodel of a larger existing home on the same site including the installation of a new climate control system and a new roof. Chris and Dave were a pleasure to work with. Our “remodel” was really the construction of a new custom home. From a single story 1850 square foot rancher, we now have a two story 3900’+ custom home. The company submitted a very detailed bid that was lower than any other bid we received. When change orders arose, which were few despite the large scope of the project, they did not gauge us.
