Almost every Louisiana recipe starts with these words, "first you make a roux". Roux ("roo") is a mixture of white wheat flour and cooking fat. It is used to thicken sauces, stews, and gravies and can be light, medium or dark in color. We made our Roux Cutting Boards as colorful and as beautiful as a good roux.
Adding wooden countertops to your kitchen or bathroom gives it a sense of warmth, comfort and home. The large variety of woods you can choose from add color and texture to the whole room in a way that no other surface else can. We offer two types of finishes. One is our natural finish made of mineral oil and beeswax, which is what we apply to our line of cutting boards.
Wooden cutting boards need to be kept clean and daily maintenance is usually a good scrub with hot soapy water after using. Do not soak your boards or any other wooden utensils in water or they'll crack and warp. Absolutely no dishwasher use! Some people use a very weak bleach solution or hydrogen peroxide to clean their boards after they've been used for cutting raw meat as a precaution against bacterial contamination.
NOLA Boards uses only environmentally responsible and renewable woods in making our products. Here is a listing of our most popular types of woods. Prized for its distinctive rich and robust color, black walnut is commonly used in furniture building. It is grown throughout the eastern and central United States.
Face grain, or plain grain, is usually the wide face of a milled board, and exhibits multiple layers of grain on top of each other, often in U, V or even O shapes. Edge grain usually will be the long, thin edge of a milled piece of lumber, and always exhibits usually long and parallel grain patterns.

Mandy and her team have, yet again, as always, knocked it out of the park. My massive, custom congo square cutting board was damaged in Hurricane Ida, and they managed to remove all signs of warping and restore it just like the day I received it. Wonderful, original store with interesting and varied, locally made cutting boards, utensils, and assorted kitchen stuff. Was helped by "Shar", one of the store owners, when I went gift shopping. She was helpful, knowledgeable and helped me land the perfect cutting board. Even threw in some decorative paper and extra gift bag to make it special. Perfect example of a local store owner going the extra mile to make the best possible shopper experience.

Love this place! I knew I saw this place in New Orleans but even more excited they are closer to home for me! I fell in love with the store! I'm thinking about the carnival board personalized for an upcoming wedding gift! Can I tell you I had my ADD traits getting the best of me! My daughter and I loved the air plant holders - so adorable!
