Absolutely subpar experience. Don't walk away, run. Not only did he have zero situational awareness on what was happening with the room addition project, but he repeatedly would blow through timelines because he forgot to schedule properly and then gaslight when you asked why. Unfortunately it didn't end there. During a home inspection it was discovered several major bolts connecting the addition to the existing structure were not tightened.
I say this not to hurt Appius construction, but in the hopes to avoid the pain to others Sal had caused me.

Out of all the contractors we've ever hired for major home projects, Appius has been the BEST experience; although just a little shy from "perfect". Their "super" strengths are doing what they said they were going to do (project scope), on time and even earlier, and pretty much exactly on budget. Oh and their large projects are professionally executed with contracts that must be docusigned and even come with 5-10 year warranties. Their "opportunities for improvement" are more on some of the quality and customer service side although those were strong too but just

Let me start by saying if I could give zero stars and post I would.
I hired Appius to handle a small remodel in my house to get it ready for renters or sale. I am only writing this review after paying them entirely, and begging them repeatedly to fix their mistakes (which I hired other people to fix instead and spent another $10k).
They did sloppy quick work and when I pointed out the mistakes and lack of common sense by the gentleman working in my house, Sal simply blamed me and found a million excuses for his guys horrible work. For example, his guys were so sloppy the threw away my closet

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with Appius. This was a big remodel job consisting of my kitchen, butlers pantry, dining room and den. Lesson learned if you do not pick the right contractor it can be a nightmare, which is what happened to us.
There was a series of events that led to my termination with Appius. After they pulled up the old flooring in the kitchen, we could see that the subfloor was beat up and weak. Unbelievably, his guys fell through the subfloor on TWO different occasions sending sheetrock and insulation everywhere into the rooms below on the first floor.

GREAT Company, GREAT WORK! The owner showed up to give me a quote, he was on time, professional, and polite. The project was started sooner than expected, which was great! Each worker that arrived (two for excavation, two for building the deck, and two for the gas fire pit) was extremely polite, efficient, and very clean. My backyard was cleaner at the end of each day than it was in the morning.
The price was less expensive than the other quotes I received and the work was EXACTLY what I hoped it would be.

Enough of deferred maintenance already! The paint on my front porch was peeling and unslightly, in part to the deluge we had this year. I researched replacement materials (Cali Bamboo!) and then needed a contractor. I found Sal Sardina and Appius Construction on NextDoor and the rest is history. He is professional and friendly, knowledgeable and experienced, a pleasure to work with. Did my project proceed without a hitch? No, because this is real life. Sal and I and Cali Bamboo all stayed in communication, things got resolved, and I never have to repaint the porch again! yay!
