Commercial roofing is different than the typical residential roof in many ways. CBS Roofing uses two types of asphalt shingles; organic and fiberglass or glass fiber. Organic shingles are generally paper (felt) saturated with asphalt to make it waterproof, then a top coating of adhesive asphalt is applied and ceramic granules are then embedded. In the case of algae-resistant shingles, a portion of the granules contain leachable copper ceramically coated and designed to protect against discoloration from algae on the roof.
The Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau is very involved in building code work. Certi-label cedar products are manufactured to CSSB-97 grading rules, which have been adopted by the U.S. International Building Code (IBC) and the U.S. International Residential Code (IRC) and the National Building Code (NBC).

Had a bad leak and other roofers could not address fast enough. CBS arrived the next day. That was the good news. The leak seemed fixed; more good news. That's where the good news ends.
They have 1 year guarantee on their work. Ten months after the work was done, a leak reappeared in EXACTLY the same place. After several attempts over 2 weeks to "refix" it, the leak persisted and I felt compelled to give up and call another roofer. Although I had to wait 10 days for the other roofer to repair it, it was repaired the day they arrived.
When I confronted CBS about the resolution, they promised a

There is nothing honest about them. It’s only been 10 years and we’ve had constant problems with the roof Brent put on and it now needs replaced again. The manufacturer came out and inspected the roof and said it was not installed properly. In addition the flat roof holds water ankle deep because it was not done correctly either. Brent has never corrected the problem and figures that since we are in Georgia he doesn’t have to. I don’t recommend them and would look elsewhere for someone reliable and honest.

Absolutely blown away by CBS Roofing! I have never witnessed a harder working, more dedicated and professional crew...they showed up at 7 every morning, took lunch in shifts so that there was never a moment that work was not being done, and were extremely meticulous when it came to cleaning up after themselves each evening.
